We have traveled to Gettysburg from Massachusetts at least a dozen times since 1968, as my husband is truly a Civil War buff and former re-enactor and I appreciate almost anything historic. Without a doubt, our recent visit and stay on this farm was our best experience ever due to the historic setting, Todd's interesting stories of the Shriver family as well as his own, and observing firsthand some of the daily chores needed to operate such a farm. This unique stay in a home built by a family who witnessed and even assisted Union soldiers will forever stand out far above the others.

Great option when visiting Gettysburg - it’s about a 5-6 minute walk to downtown restaurants and shops, and a 5 minute walk to restaurants and breweries near the battlefields. Ghost tours stop outside the house every evening (no signs of haunting inside this house thank goodness!) and the house next door is a museum. We enjoyed being in the middle of everything, and appreciate the parking in the garage to stay out of the fray. We also got a kick out of the interesting artifacts sprinkled through the house. Worked well for our group for a few days.

I cannot recommend this home enough! It was a fantastic home for our girl’s trip. Home had everything we needed and we really enjoyed relaxing in the back yard in the evening. Everything was in walking distance and there is a great Irish pub right across the alley. Owner was very responsive and quickly answered any questions. Looking forward to visiting again!

Amazing location in the mountains. Great location to everything we needed during our stay as we were back and forth to Gettysburg, Emmitsburg, Mount St. Mary and Thurmont. His home had everything we needed and more. We will definitely be back. Thank you very much for sharing your airbnb with our family.

This was our third time staying at the lavender house. Obviously, we love it! Lisa is a wonderful host, quick to respond and obviously takes pride in ensuring her guests enjoy their stay. The house is beautiful! Decorated throughout with antiques, and the hardwood floors and exposed wood beams in the ceiling, it has a historical feeling, with all the modern necessities (dishwasher, washer, dryer, etc). And the town of Gettysburg is just a 10 minute drive and has something for everyone, from a plethora of shops and restaurants to breweries and museums. We have walked through the battlefields and even toured Eisenhower’s farm. This area is rich with history and beautiful scenery. I highly recommend staying here and will definitely be back! Lisa also owns The Pub right in the town square which has delicious food and an impressive bar menu!

The cabin was very well maintained and created a wonderfully relaxing atmosphere. I was particularly impressed with how clean the bathrooms and kitchen were. It was a great place to relax and detox.

Had an awesome time at this property. Property had everything we needed. Would recommend to anyone looking for a nice secluded family getaway.

We stayed for an overnight and Gregg’s place was perfect for us. Close to Dickinson college. The space was very clean and comfortable.

Super cute spot with great amenities and a comfy bed. The whole place is very clean and there are so many great details from the s’mores kits to use at the fire pit to the extra toothbrush in case you forget yours.

Michele provided all the necessary details very promptly. she also checked in regularly to make sure everything was good. I would certainly stay at Ohana Resort when next in Hummelstown.

What a wonderful retreat! I can't think of a better place to stay where you're surrounded by books, art and the countryside.

(For younger people that care), beware that they live upstairs from where you will be staying!!! We (kinda of) loudly played music in the living room, were able to walk 50 feet to the gazebo (located in the yard) to smoke, and laughed loudly all night. We were worried we’d have to be super quiet and they would be strict but, the owners had no complaints which we were very greatful for, didn’t interrupt us, got our money’s worth and had a great night!

This place is awesome and we can’t wait to return. Everything was very clean, and it was private and so relaxing. The owners were very responsive and provided everything and even surprised us with fresh eggs. The chickens were such fun to watch from the patio, and Izzy their dog was so friendly. The owners are wonderful people and they were very attentive. We can’t wait to return.

After two stays in an awful hotel is was refreshing to finally stay in a place so nice. I come down every year for a hockey tournament. The location was great 6-7 min from the rink, the ability to cook my own healthy meals was great, the couch was so comfortable it was nice to come and relax after I got done playing. I hope so stay again next year!

My husband and I needed a place to stay long term while we were in the process of looking for a new home to purchase. This apartment was very close to both of our works so I messaged about availability. Susan was very communicative and always responded to me quickly. She was super nice and accommodating. As the write up says, it is on a busy street where the traffic does not stop. So just make sure you are aware of that. We have night masks with speakers in them so we were ok:-) The kitchen has everything you would need and the bed was very comfy. We were very lucky to find this place.

We really enjoyed the stay. Fun playing pool and watching vintage dvd— Beauty and the Beast. The museum was interesting. The lights in museum room were cool. Place had character. Would stay again.

I was there for my daughter's wedding. it was the perfect place to stay during the weekend for the wedding. The place is very clean, had enough extra towels and linens.

Our stay with Stephanie was just perfect. We were very comfortable in her apartment and our dog enjoyed the big backyard. Will definitely keep her in mind for future trips.

We enjoyed our stay at The Franklin. The place was fresh, clean and had both handicapped & regular parking right outside our door. There are restaurants and a brewery within walking distance as well as The Maryland Theatre. We felt at home and will revisit in the future. Kudos to the owner!
