Such a beautiful home and a wonderful place for a family weekend retreat to Lake Jackson State Park and participate in the Fonta Flora 50K. The home is so cozy, and enjoyable. Space to gather together and also retreat away to relax and read a book or nap. The deck and dock space are amazing!!! Hosts were so friendly and welcoming. We are already planning our next visit to their home.

Lisa was a very responsive host and we appreciate that the property is dog friendly! The kitchen was stocked with all the necessary items for our stay and the bathrooms were pristine. It's a new home, so everything is spotless and comfortable. The host lives on site, but we barely heard them while we were staying there.

We had an amazing stay and thoroughly enjoyed the front yard for all day sledding! The house was spacious - perfect for our four families! Most importantly, the hosts were super friendly and responsive to any questions we had! We will definitely be back to enjoy the river in the summer!!

This home was breathlessly beautiful! Everything was so clean. Andrew was very responsive every time I contacted him and he was very kind and helpful. Definitely worth the stay!

Stayed at Christy's place from 4/14/25 to 4/18/25. Very modern, serene, and peaceful. Great place for outdoor enthusiasts, especially for those that love the water and kayaking. There is also easy hiking on the Flora Trail within walking distance in this gated community. The Fonta Flora Loop Trail is about 3 miles away and is a moderate hike with great water and mountain view. Down the road a bit further is Shortoff Mountain which is somewhat strenuous but the views are worth it. Would definitely stay again! Dave

Paul was so quick to respond to any questions I had. He was also very friendly and helpful. Heavens Gate, WOW, the name says it all. The cabin is so beautiful and very well decorated. When you first walk in, you're on the second floor. There's large sliding doors that lead outside to the deck that has the most amazing views of the lake. It is truly breathtaking! They have a very well equipped kitchen. It has a regular pot & a K-cup maker which came in handy. There are games, tv, great wifi and an awesome hot tub! The hot tub was hot and clean. We quickly unpacked, made a mimosa and jumped right in. That view, also amazing! The Wifi worked outside to play tunes while we soaked in the tub & amazing views. The road was scary for this FL girl, but you do get use to it. Also deer walked around the house and we saw an eagle. The beds were super cozy and there were plenty of dressers to unpack. The master shower was so nice. I can go on and on... just book it, you will not regret it!

Had another enjoyable week at Ross’s Retreat. So much room to relax and enjoy the beautiful lake & Mountain View’s. The 2 kayaks always a plus. Hopefully will be back again next year. Thanks again.

Cute place to stay very close to the marina/dock. A fully stocked home with many essentials for our stay

The house is such a gem!! It was perfect for our family of 9 for Thanksgiving. We could have never left the house our entire trip because the main level is so cozy and comfortable. There is plenty of games and puzzles to keep everyone entertained. My son loved the little nook area with the bean bag. There is plenty of space to spread out with the 3 different living room areas. If you want a good workout - go for a walk! The house is at a higher elevation in the neighborhood, so you will have to walk down and back up. We hiked to Laurel Falls - that was another workout! Be prepared to drive a little ways to the grocery store. We brought most of our groceries but needed a few things and the next town is 25-30 minutes away. (Of course, there is always Dollar General that is closer!) Not many places to eat out. The first night we went to the Trading Post and the food was good and the people were so friendly, we stopped back in on our way out to say goodbye!

We have rented homes on Watauga 15+ times and this so far has been our favorite. It’s very obvious how well the home and outside is cared for. The patio, furniture, and dock are all so clean. I have found that a lot of places lack that part. It was so nice to be able to paddleboard and kayak without paying extra. The bed was very comfortable and the kitchen had everything we needed. I highly recommend this house and plan to return for future visits if it’s available!

We had a wonderful stay at Brian’s cabin! It is so perfectly appointed with everything you’d need. It looks just like the pictures, was very clean, and the location was perfect (a short drive into town). The views are everything!! Brian was super helpful and responded very quickly when we had an issue with the tv. We would love to visit again soon!

Tom and Melissa were excellent hosts and their cozy cabin was exactly as pictured. We enjoyed the screened porch, outside swing, fire pit and the comfortable bed. The kitchen was well stocked and organized. The decor was bursting with tasteful details throughout. We visited various spots around Lake James and found the location to be convenient while still private. We really enjoyed our visit.

Great cabin close to town and Grandfather Mountain. Highly recommend!

Very peaceful and relaxing space. Would recommend and stay again. Nice to hear the whippoorwills at night also. Charity was very responsive and helpful as well.

We enjoyed our week at Canyon Dreams. Christie and Donavan have the house well stocked and details thought through. My kids enjoyed the outdoor games like ping-pong and corn hole as well as kayaking. We also enjoyed hiking to nearby waterfalls, boat rentals and exploring Grandfather mountain which is about 40 minutes away. The lake is absolutely beautiful and we even saw a bear swimming one day! Thank you for the wonderful stay and memories.

This is a true hidden gem. Darren has built a beautiful campsite in what may be the most beautiful place I have seen. My wife, daughter, and I had real time to connect & enjoy the serenity of what was our first (definitely not last) visit with Darren ( Paul, Brandy) and the beautiful countryside. Looking forward to a spring visit and would recommend this site to anyone and everyone!
