This was a perfect week long retreat for our summer vacation. We spent most of our time enjoying the kitchen, screened in porch, and the pool! Just a short trip to town, it’s easy to get groceries and the kitchen in well equipped for cooking! We were in the pool everyday and felt so relaxed and at ease in the beautiful home and peaceful scenery! Peter, who stopped by mid-week was lovely and helpful. Completely recommend for a week away!

This is a great place to relax! Extremely quiet, spectacular view and plenty of space for a family of 4 to 6 to spread out and chill. The private beach is a nice added touch and Baddeck is only a 2 minute drive, but I wouldn’t walk there, cars drive a little fast down that road and there’s no sidewalk. Tyler was a great host, explained everything perfectly, right down to recommending water shoes for the private beach ( which we had). There’s also a nice listing of local places and lots of brochures so you can find stuff to do. It was ~25 degrees when we stayed and it gets nice and cool at night so not having A/C isn’t a problem. There are so many windows that open in so many directions, you’ll catch a breeze.

Couldn't have asked for a better place to explore the Cape breton island. Sailor's rest was cozy and had all the amenities for our stay. Lorna, our host was always responsive and kind. There were a ton of local recommendations placed inside the property which actually helped us a lot.

This is the 3rd time we have stayed at the Big House. It is a great spot when you have a large group! The location is fantastic, within walking distance to everything and Willie is very accommodating and responsive.

An excellent space for a large group. Local recommendations provided right by the door. The space was clean and had cookware and dinnerware to accommodate our full group. The hosts were friendly and responsive during our stay. Would definitely recommend this space for families or groups looking to stay in Sydney!

The home was spotless and equipped with all the amenities we could possibly need. The location was perfect for us. Keith and Donna went above and beyond to ensure our comfort and always provided quick responses. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. We had a great stay at 69 Union St! Kent’s place is very homey and was the perfect place to live in for a week in Sydney. The spot is well stocked with what you need — especially the kitchen! Really appreciated the warm cozy vibes along with the high beautiful ceilings. Highly recommend! Our group agreed it was one of the nicest air bnbs we’ve stayed in. Would definitely stay here again.

Fantastic place for our annual girls get away! 4 of us girls each had our own place to sleep. Amazing kitchen with everything you need. I loved the open concept with breathtaking views!! I could even keep an eye on my 70 year old Mom who was fishing off the dock while I was busy in the kitchen lol We will definitely be going back ♥️

Big Harbour Hideaway is situated on an inlet of the Bras D’Or Lake with little boating activity so it was quiet. The dock is very solid and does not move with the tide, there were four Adirondack chairs on the dock with a few more available near by. Across the inlet is a really nice view of gypsum cliffs. There were bald eagles and even a seal! The house felt comfy and was well stocked with toilet paper, paper towelling, tissue, garbage bags, pots and pans, cutlery, etc. The beds were quite comfortable and although there is no air conditioning the breeze off the water was all we needed to cool the bedrooms at night. Although the house is on a well there was plenty hot water and the water pressure was really good. It felt homelike and it doesn’t get better than that! There is no cable tv, but I believe you can hook up a device to it to watch movies or play games. There is a pretty serious Scrabble game on the coffee table. Baddeck is only 12-14 minutes away by car.

The place was extremely clean and located by a close village that had a beautiful, peaceful harbor. Alaina made you feel at home.

We had a fabulous stay at Tammy's home and were very reluctant to leave. It was extremely comfortable and very stylish. We enjoyed sitting on the deck into late evening watching the sun set over the lake. Definitely a place to return if we ever revisit Cape Breton and can highly recommend.

We had a wonderful stay at Rahim's place! He is incredibly kind and thoughtful, going above and beyond to make sure we felt welcome. My son especially enjoyed playing with the collection of shells in the house, and Rahim was so generous in offering him a few to take home as a keepsake. The location is also fantastic—just one minute from the highway, making it super convenient to explore the area. Highly recommend staying here!

Kim’s place was great for our trip to Celtic Colours. Location was good as it had easy access to major roads but was not on one. Cabin was comfortable with lots of nice touches. Easy to make meals in the well equipped kitchen. Kim accommodated our fragrance free needs graciously. She was always responsive. We had a wonderful week and would definitely return!

we have stayed here before and it is always excellent. we come mainly for the peace and quiet and the hot tub. tracy has a bad neck and back and getting in the hot tub does lots for her pain levels. we are grateful for this place. thank you meg once again for a great stay.
