Herdershuisie at Waterval Farmstay

The name of the unit derives from the days when it was a shepherd’s house. In the evenings, the shepherd would bring the sheep to the kraal before returning to his dwelling nearby. We started to renovate the unit early in July 2017, with the aim of keeping its rustic look whilst still providing all the comforts needed for an exceptional stay on the farm. The front door of the unit overlooks the kraal where the sheep still sleep in the evening, providing unparalleled views of the starry skies.

Rietjiesbos - Hummingbird Suite

If you are looking for a quiet, spotlessly clean, and super comfy overnight or longer stay in Graaff-Reinet, then this is the place for you :) Hummingbird is an open-plan suite equipped with a flat-screen TV (DSTV) and free WIFI. The separate compact kitchenette includes all the basics, free drinking water and a two-plate stove for easy self catering. If you'd rather eat out, we will gladly help with reservations at nearby restaurants. Else provide free wood and light the braai (bbq) for you!

Have your own boma braai or enjoy a refreshing dip in the pool with ample lounging space, or relax in the huge garden space surrounded by trees. If your group is over 6 then enquire about your private pooitjie evening. Graaff-Reinet has a few unique experiences in the surroundings to explore.

Leopard's Den Remote Campsite

An isolated campsite 22km (50 minutes) from Graaff-Reinet . Surrounded by nature, birds and game. Situated in a majestic valley in the mountains of the Camdeboo National Park. The rustic campsite has a sleeping deck which shelters a boma containing, a fireplace. There is an outside braai, cold shower and flush toilet. A place to relax. Completely isolated. A single campsite. Raised vehicle 2x4 or 4x4 required. Get away from it all when you stay under the stars.

Buccara Karoo Willowslopes Main House

Set under the majestic Willow Slopes cliffs surrounded be rolling green lawns, this spectacular lodge built in 2013 and maintaining the estate’s Colonial architectural style, is the ideal place to relax when not on a safari adventure. Forget your worries in this spacious and serene space. You can book the two-bedroom main house for a home atmosphere and experience. Lounge around the large pool, observe the wildlife that can be seen grazing on the lawns.

Charming cottage in the Middle of Town

A beautiful Karoo cottage with all the comforts you need for an overnight stay. On a quiet cul de sac in the Centre of town. Three Bedrooms (2 with King Size XL Beds), Aircon, two modern bathrooms (one with shower, the other with bath & shower). There is a fully kitted kitchen with Nespresso Machine, a separate living, dining & outside area with a Webber Braai. An outside shower with a view to the stars & Spandaukop gives you the perfect Karoo feeling.

Kerkhuisie at Waterval Farmstay

Tucked away on a farm in the heart of the Karoo is Kerkhuisie, the ideal rest-stop for the weary traveler. The solar powered cottage is bright with high ceilings leaving it cool in summer and cosy in winter - thanks to an indoor fireplace. Kerkhuisie has more than enough beds for even the biggest families or groups of friends. It can accommodate eight people comfortably. Come explore what a 100% authentic farm stay has to offer.

Schoemanshuis at Waterval Farmstay

This quaint solar powered house dates back to the earliest days of the Graaff-Reinet district. It is the oldest house on the farm and was built around 1850. For decades it was the only lived-in building on the farm. The peaceful surroundings offers lovely mountain views, braai facilities and a farm pool to swim in during the hot summer months. The cottage is fully equipped for self-catering for up to four people.

The Tradesman

The Tradesman Shop is a quirky and historic unit with a beautiful courtyard and braai area. It is the last Tradesman shop that is still connected to the main house and dates from the 1850’s. It’s still has the original “brakdakkie”-ceiling so don’t get a fright when a piece of historic dust comes loose from the ceiling. The large courtyard at the back is a treat. Please note the unit operates on a gas geyser.

Bourke Street Manor

This old Victorian establishment was built as the original nursing home and has recently been renovated to her original grandeur . The establishment is a historical monument and a landmark in the historic tourism heart of Graaff Reinet and within walking distances from all restaurants, museums and shops. It offers stylish, vintage, on-suite, safe and serviced longer term accommodation.

We offer the perfect spot for peace and tranquility in the heart of the Nama-Karoo. Mountain biking, long or short Karoo walks and breathtaking sunsets create an environment for a full reboot. We are situated 30km outside the beautiful town of Graaff Reinet. We offer delicious home cooked meals upon arrival, this can be arranged with the host.
