This is a great place to stay on the river, the owners are supper nice and very easy to work with, definitely will be coming back to stay!

The cabin is aptly named—it is right by the New River. I suspect in summer, you’d be lucky to get this place, since it’d be excellent for river access. We got to chill out in mid-April, thanks both to cold weather & the peaceful, scenic surroundings. The cabin is charming & comfortable & just as pictured. We slept delightfully well in the queen beds. The kitchen has a wealth of dishes, cookware, utensils, etc., plus some spices & fridge items on hand. The dining area looks out on the mountains. Although we didn’t use them much because of the cold, there’s a front & a side porch with nice views. Everything was spotlessly clean, & Danielle was a gracious & responsive host. Note: there is no WiFi, but we managed using our phones as hot spots. Cell service was generally okay. The town of Independence is only about 10 minutes away, & it has a marvelous grocery store. We enjoyed delicious pizza at Ciro’s, & we’d recommend Powerhouse Falls for an outdoor adventure.

My pup and I had a great quick stay. Beautiful view, yard to throw ball with the pup and a fire pit to relax around and look at the stars! Quick trip to multiple hikes. We hiked up to White Top on the AT. Beautiful!!

A good tiny cabin with some upscale features near a remote field work site that I was supporting. The place that I needed close to field work at a reasonable price. The cabin is very close to Grayson Highlands and Mt Rogers. An alternative to camping if you want to visit the Virginia Highlands.

The cabin was a great little hideaway! We did lose power and have to leave early, but I suppose that's part of the risk of a cabin in winter.

We camp at Oracle Campground with groups of students who are finishing a 12 day backcountry trip with 3 days of paddling on the New River after backpacking in Pisgah National Forest. The campsites and facilities are very nice, and we access the property by pulling kayaks off the river and walking gear up to camp. This is the second year we have used these campsites and we appreciate the facilities and the communication of the host. We will certainly use these sites again!

We had a quick night of sleep at Richard’s while traveling. It was extremely quiet, with beautiful country surroundings. The place was spotless. It would probably be a great area for a romantic getaway. As shown in photos!

This is the second time we've stayed at Granny's Place and we undoubtedly will be back in the future (My husband was already talking about when we could come back as we were packing up to leave). It's central to all of our favorite outdoors things to do in South West Virginia, including hiking, antiquing, motorcycle riding (road and trail riding) and more. Try the near by drag racing strip if you have time--even if you don't think you're a fast car enthusiast. The house is super private, super quiet, and very cozy. Amelia is a gracious hostess. I can't recommend this place enough.
