The Blue Cow Barn - Betsie Cottage

The Blue Cow Barn Accommodation is situated on a working farm, 1km from Barrydale town centre. Our farm has gone through many seasons - from a fruit farm to a dairy farm and now a guest farm. Our cottages are named after the cows that were part of the dairy and Betsie is our most flamboyant and eccentric cottage and cow. You'll love this cottage as it is situated in the original farm barn that dates back to the 1960's and the gorgeous mountain view. This cottage also has access to the hot tub.

Take a step back in time and sleep in a historical monument built in 1795 on this exquisite piece of farm property that has been lovingly restored. We practice regenerative farming and encourage biodiversity. This is a place to relax, reconnect and recharge. It is our happy place where we embrace all forms of wildlife and love our menagerie of domestic pets from pigs to turkeys to horses and lots of dogs. Marshall Farm is a traditional thatch family-friendly farmhouse in Vermaaklikheid. The farmhouse is 30 yards from the river, and has an enchanting beautiful wind free outdoor lounge area on a jetty connecting you to the river. The Duiwenshok River is one of the Overberg’s best kept secrets, approximately 3,5 hours from the bustle of Cape Town, this delightful hideaway is seemingly untouched by the hand of time.

When we first opened our spot we were truly over the hills and far away... now the village has grown around us a bit, but the place can still feel pretty secluded. The architect-designed house mixes inside/outside space with plenty of room for family.. Explore wetland, river and the Langeberg mountains. With plenty of comforts this spot is paradise for children, dogs and a retreat for adults.

Private little cottage in the field away from all the buzz. Enjoy the lovely setting of this romantic spot in nature. Just 5.5km gravel road. If very wet, you need a Suv or4 x 4 vehicle. All off the grid with no Eskom, no wi-fi, no tv. Only solar for lights, gas for hot water, stove and fridge/freezer. Wood for barbecue and fireplace.
