Another wonderful stay at Westhaven. Grateful to have found this little jewel for a quick city escape. Wonderful hosts, nature, and cozy place to stay!

We had a lovely stay. it's super cute, private, and quiet. we will definitely book again. there are 13 other cabins to chose from. We also enjoyed the town and near by venues. Cool place❣️

My stay was short, just two nights and I was gone during the day, but in the evening my dog and I were comfortable. I used the sofa, not the loft bedroom. It was clean with anything that you might need. I'm familiar with the area and got take out both nights from restaurants nearby just 5-10 mins drive. Nice neighborhood, was quiet (very important to me) and am sure that it is very lovely outside once spring/summer grass/flowers have grown.

Overall great stay, may not be for everyone with some of the hunting decor but it very much gives off cozy cabin vibes which more than accommodated for our needs. A full kitchen of pots and pans made it very easy for a great homemade breakfast. Had a small issue getting into the cabin initially but this would be an oversight on my end as Mike had put the enter/check-in code in the initial message with me. Would definitely book again! 5/5

We LOVED this place so much!! It felt like the perfect balance of clean and cute, yet kind of a pleasant peek back in time being a refurbished cabin! Lots of charm and character. And the coffee cake was delicious and so welcoming. We’d love to stay here again if we ever are in Illinois and would recommend it to anyone. Very clean and well-kept!! This place was a breath of fresh air in our adventures. Thanks for being great hosts!!

Stayed here a few times now. Love the space and the surroundings. Good spot to get to various preserves and trails. Will stay again as I love the farm fresh eggs too!

We only ended up staying one night as the weather was not cooperating with our plans. The place was cote and clean and close to the parks we were hoping to visit. Elaine gave lots of local recommendations. Hopefully we will be back sometime.

We loved this stay and can't wait to return. It's a older, clean, well loved & maintained home, in a beautiful, quiet and safe neighborhood. We're moving and this was a test for the style of home, community and train system. We drove in, but used CTA all week. The walk to the train was an easy 15 minute's or 20. The walk to the main street just 10. We were out late most nights, St. Patrick's Day week, but never felt unsafe walking back at 1am or so. So many good restaurants, we couldn't try them all! Fun little pubs on the corners. A comedy club with free shows during the week, and the friendliest people. This was the best holiday/ scouting trip I could have hoped for. Now, I could write a novella about how wonderful Elizabeth is. I've traveled all over the world, in many rentals, and she is hands down the best in service I've experienced. From email updates to a full call about restaurants on our drive in, she exceeds anything we expected and we will be renting here again.

Phillip was a great host, the cabin was perfect for my wife and to really enjoy a peaceful stay. He was very responsive and friendly. Great location! Great Host! Great Cabin. My wife and I will definitely be back to enjoy the beautiful and peaceful location again.

We were here for a funeral and a quick one night stay, so didn’t do much about the town. The place was just as described and worked great for our needs! Joni was very friendly and responsive, the place was cute, quiet and clean, and had everything that we needed. I appreciated the fresh ground coffee and the French coffee press, and the snacks that were available for us, so thank you for that! :)

I stayed at the cottage for one month, as my home in town was being renovated and I needed somewhere to stay. The cottage provided a cozy, comfortable, and private space. The description was accurate. The view of the river was calming and the fox that visited during the winter storm was a highlight of the stay. That is certainly memorable! I would recommend this cottage. Thank you Derryn.

My husband and I stayed here for a weekend getaway. What a special place! The pictures don't do it justice. So beautifully decorated, attention to detail was on point. Peaceful, tranquil, relaxing, just what we wanted. We were greeted by an Otter, geese, and several Bald Eagles. That bathtub! Oh my, that bathtub! The bed was so comfy, best nights sleep we've ever had at a getaway. Even though we felt like we were miles away from the hustle and bustle, we were so close to everything. Mississippi River Museum was a blast! Do the Stingray and Octopus encounters! So worth it! We didn't make it to the bar and grill but very much enjoyed listening to the live music on the patio. If making memories is what you're looking for, this is your place! We will forever remember this place. We will be back! Thank you so much for creating such a special place.

I booked last minute and they got the place ready for me. The area seemed nice. I'll be keeping this place in mind next time i travel through the area

My wife, friends, and I were in the area for the Tunnel Hill 100. The location of the house was great. Only about 25 minutes from Vienna City Park where the race started. There was plenty of room for all of us. The home was exceptionally clean, and the views of the lake were amazing. Megan was a great host. She quickly answered all of the questions I had and kept in good touch with us. I am considering returning to the race next year. Catching Rays is definitely a place I would return to.

Just like the name says, it is A Little Piece of Heaven! The cabin is absolutely adorable, with every detail covered from the gorgeous shower, to the bench down by the pond, and even the little stuffed bears on the cabinet tops! My twin sister and I stayed here and we were not at all disappointed, and even enjoyed a couple of deer grazing in the morning! Thank you for an amazing weekend!

This cabin was absolutely perfect and exactly what we needed. I wanted a place where I would feel safe with my two daughters for the night while we traveled across the country, and I wasn't entirely comfortable with the motels available nearby. I couldn't have been happier here, though . We LOVE the outdoors and this fit the bill. The place was peaceful. We heard barred owls hooting and coyotes in the distance, which was incredible. The fish were jumping at the pond, purple martins swooping across the landscape. The cabin was outfitted well and was spotless (and I am picky!) I just wished we could have stayed longer. Thank you so very much for being so accommodating to our very late night request to come and stay. You couldn't have been more helpful and hospitable. If we ever get back, we are coming!!!

Great, little place to stay and not a bad drive from Galena. Only wish we had more time to stay! Maybe next time!

This cabin is exactly what I was looking for, I wish I had more time to explore. Next time I pass thru this way I will definitely stay here again and enjoy hearing the river current all night. Best sleep in years thank you.

We were surprised by the amenities and care that Mary took to get the place ready for our stay. She had all the essentials in case you missed packing something and more. She was very responsive when we asked for dinner recommendations. The cabin is right at the entrance to Godwin trail and 1.5 miles from the cross. It is walking distance to the cross as well.

We have stayed at Kristen's place multiple times now with our pets and it is our go to in the area. Waterfront cottage with an up north feel, close to shopping, restaurants and easy access to the highway. We will definitely be back again and recommend it to anyone looking for a nice getaway or even a quick overnight stay when passing through the area.

Great play to stay close to Shawnee National Forest

The cabin was absolutely perfect! Tammy has thought of every detail to make the stay comfortable and relaxing. The setting is stunning—rolling hills and a peaceful lake backdrop make it ideal for reading on the porch, walking the trails, or just soaking in the view. It truly felt like a peaceful retreat. The cabin had everything we needed, and the nearby small town had just the right touches— coffee shop, pizza place, and a cafe. We would absolutely come back again!
