This house is located in a fantastic location, only a 6 min walk from the nearest station. Shiho, the host, was very accommodating. She greeted us as we arrived and gave a house tour. She also asked how we were going and made sure everyone was okay, something that is rarely done for Airbnb hosts. Everything in the house was clean and organised, the beds and futons were comfortable, and overall we had a great time staying at this place.

A wonderful experience. The house adjoins the To-ji temple which is a must to visit especially on the 21st of the month. We slept very well on the modern futons, the bed clothes smelled so good and the onsen was such a pleasant moment. The house is big and w modern equipment. The room at the back is quiet and really nice. We asked Maya some restaurant tips and trips we wanted to do and we always got a super fast answer. Very helpful.

Very nice place with clean and hot tub including place! Drinks, gifts, and quick communications are great to feel welcome at place.

Very warm and helpful household (luggage room option). Good location (quiet and few minutes to Kyoto Station). Rooms very clean, spacious and cosy; beds very comfortable. Everything as described. I highly recommend it!

We loved our stay in this peaceful traditional house and Mrs. Yoshino was such a kind and very accommodating host! She would write up a small saying to us in French before we would leave for our day, which was just so kind of her. Plus she did our laundry for us which was an amazing bonus, (and loved the smell of her laundry detergent!) Thank you so much for being such a wonderful host!!

Très bel hébergement, on s'y sent comme à la maison. Yoko nousi avait même mis des fraises dans le frigos, très gentille attention de sa part. L'arrêt de bus est vraiment très près de la maison et permet de rejoindre le métro ou la gare très rapidement. Un super séjour, tout était parfait!!! Merci Yoko.

Heerlijk huis, super schoon in fijne straat. Dichtbij zijn treinen, bussen etc. Ook veel lekkere restaurants en kleine eetgelegenheden, bijvoorbeeld bij de buren (2 huizen verderop) wordt je gastvrij ontvangen en heb je goed ontbijt met lekkere koffie. De slaapkamers boven bieden wel weinig privacy, want je moet altijd door elkaars kamer. Met een gezin en vrienden is dat ook best gezellig trouwens.

La décoration intérieure est très raffinée avec des œuvres d'art très jolies. l'hôte à été très réactive quand nous avons du poser des questions. Nous serions bien resté quelques jours de plus.

8 minute walk from the nearest metro station, less than 15 minutes metro to get downtown kyoto! Our host was helpful with metro tips and the home was beautiful!

A beautiful, traditional house overlooking the river. Shops, restaurants and bus/train close, we felt very much at home. Highly recommended.

Coming from Europe with no idea of Japan the stay with Malcolm and Masashi was the start of our five week journey in Japan. It couldn’t be a better start. We jumped out of our busy lives into the japanese culture, eager to see everything, trying to understand the strange habits of the people looking for museums, shops and restaurants. Malcolm showed us the way to the gardens, the tempels, the quiet places. Attentive and helpfull like Stevens from Ishiguro, full of interesting stories about the surroundings like David Attenborough, Answering all our questions about the ins and outs and the why’s and the becauses as a european, who spend more than half of his life in Japan. We loved to wake up with the sound of the birds. We will never forget this culture shock week between this friendly people in their wonderfull house.

A delightful, charming building within easy reach of trains, buses and restaurants. Located centrally to the top tourist destinations made it easy to travel in any direction and have an enjoyable day and was quiet enough to be away from the really busy tourist areas. We loved our stay and would definietly recommend to friends. Thank you!

We loved our stay at Guess House Anex. It’s a beautifully preserved traditional Japanese wooden house full of charm. We slept on futons over tatami mats in a lovely, peaceful room with wooden panels and sliding doors — a truly cozy and authentic experience. The house has three floors: the ground floor has showers and toilets, the first floor has a small common area to relax, and the rooms are on the top floor. Everything was very well cared for. The location is excellent — just a short walk from the pagoda and in a quiet, authentic Kyoto neighborhood, perfect for exploring the city on foot. Check-in is done at Gojo Café, about five minutes away on foot, and the process was very easy. The staff was incredibly kind and helpful. A very special and authentic stay. I’d definitely come back in the future

We stayed for two weeks and we like the house, especially the bathroom area with the massage chair and the upstairs spacious sleeping area. It’s also very close to Nijo castle.

Kiraku’s place was just as described. I love the traditional house with a modern style. Kiraku’s was always super responsive and helpful.

庭院非常漂亮！虽然隔音不太好但是住在民宿的旅客都非常有素质，在晚上听不到杂音！如果没有尝试过住日本传统房屋，鲤屋是非常不错的地方

Wir hatten einen tollen Aufenthalt. Die Zimmer sind sehr hübsch und das Frühstück war fantastisch! Die Lage war für uns perfekt. Wir wurden sehr nett empfangen und verabschiedet. Die Unterkunft war für uns insgesamt sehr gut, ist allerdings (nachts) hellhörig, was beim Schlafen stören kann. Es werden aber Ohropax kostenlos bereitgestellt. Vielen Dank für die Gastfreundschaft! Albeit brief, this was my favorite stay of my entire Japan trip. The hosts were incredibly friendly and always proactive in making sure we felt at home not just in our accommodation but also in Kyoto and the lovely and peaceful neighborhood the townhome resides in. They made sure to follow up every question we had and made sure we were able to travel and make our next destination smoothly. We had some stressful travel beforehand, but they were extremely flexible in made our trip much easier. Also their cute daily breakfast was delicious and every single room had so much personality. It has a shared common space and bathroom but it never felt inconvenient and also allows you to get a one of a kind experience in Kyoto. The price was also incredibly reasonable and a great value. I look forward to returning next time I’m in town!

Our stay at Yamashita’s beautiful 100-year-old Japanese villa in Kyoto was the perfect way to end our 2 week vacation in Japan. The house is spacious, very clean, and well-equipped, perfect for our group of 12. It has everything you need and more. It has a serene garden, jacuzzi, and sauna—the kids especially loved the jacuzzi! Yamashita is an EXCEPTIONAL host—very warm, helpful, and accommodating. She drove us to supermarkets and places we wanted to go and even picked us up for a small fee. She prepared simple yet delicious breakfasts. She was quick to respond to messages and even guided us on using local buses. Though the house is a bit far from the touristy areas, the peace and quiet of Yamashita’s home made it the perfect retreat. It offered a more authentic and relaxing experience of Japan. I highly recommend Yamashita’s villa to anyone looking for comfort, culture, and outstanding hospitality. And to anyone looking for a truly memorable stay in a traditional Japanese home.

What a beautiful traditional Japanese home to stay We totally loved the old house, beautiful decorations, the inner courtyard and our room. Everything was perfect! Chieri is a great host, we felt very welcomed and home right away. We were on a road trip, so we also enjoyed that we could wash our clothes. And we tried out the traditional japanese bath. Perfect! Chieri, thank you for everything! Hope to see you someday again!
