Soi’s Guesthouse is a super place to stay when you’re in Kyoto! All the hosts were super helpful, giving us recommendation and even helped us out with an office for one in our company. The street is also really peaceful and quiet, but still very close to the old town. Would definitely come back!

What a beautiful traditional Japanese home to stay We totally loved the old house, beautiful decorations, the inner courtyard and our room. Everything was perfect! Chieri is a great host, we felt very welcomed and home right away. We were on a road trip, so we also enjoyed that we could wash our clothes. And we tried out the traditional japanese bath. Perfect! Chieri, thank you for everything! Hope to see you someday again!

Très bel hébergement, on s'y sent comme à la maison. Yoko nousi avait même mis des fraises dans le frigos, très gentille attention de sa part. L'arrêt de bus est vraiment très près de la maison et permet de rejoindre le métro ou la gare très rapidement. Un super séjour, tout était parfait!!! Merci Yoko.

I loved my stay in Uji, absolutely fell in love with the town. The apartment's in a very convenient location, at the end of the main street, next to Uji bridge and Byodo-in Omotesando which is lined with shops and restaurants. Depending on which station you come from it's either 5 minutes or 10 minutes by foot. I liked my room (japanese-style, upstairs), it was nice and quiet. The host and his family are a quiet bunch, you barely notice them. They are out a lot but you can always contact them via message, f.e. to request a fresh towel or another blanket or whatever you need. You can use the lobby (= living room/common room) upstairs which has a couch and a fridge till around 11pm. My only complaint is that the downstairs shower had a bit of a mold problem (but there's an upstairs shower too). Also, they have a dog (you barely see or hear it, but you can smell it in the entrance area), so if you have dog allergy beware of that.

Wir wurden gleich vor dem Haus bei unserer Ankunft erwartet und in Haus und Kyoto eingeführt. Man darf von der Unterkunft natürlich keinen Luxus erwarten, aber es hat sein Versprechen, ein traditionelles japanisches Haus zu sein, voll erfüllt, so dass wir uns sehr wohl gefühlt haben. Das Teilen des Bades mit den Besitzern war nie ein Problem, es stand uns immer zur Verfügung. Das Zimmer selbst ist sehr geräumig und ruhig. Die Gegend war Spitze, mit dem Bahnhof Katsura ist man schnell im Zentrum Kyotos und meidet dabei sogar den unübersichtlichen Hauptbahnhof in Kyoto. In der Bahnhofstrasse West (nenne es mal so) gab es ein Café, dass wir ab sieben Uhr zum Frühstücken besuchten (Oak Food). Östlich von Katsura Station gibt es eine Reihe von traditionellen Lokalen, von denen wir das 焼肉 おもに besucht haben. Hervorragendes, auf feinster Holzkohle am Tisch gegrilltes Fleisch (glaube, es heisst Yakiniku) in einem einfachen Gasthaus. Achtung, durch das Grillen ist das Lokal stark verraucht.

Staying at John’s place in Shiga was an unforgettable experience! John is an incredibly passionate and energetic host, always full of enthusiasm. He and his lovely wife, Rika, made me feel right at home. They even invited me to join their family for a delicious homemade dinner, and Rika kindly provided breakfast as well. Their son, Andre, was also very friendly, and I truly enjoyed our conversations. The house itself is a charming countryside cottage surrounded by beautiful nature, making it a perfect getaway. If you’re visiting Shiga, staying with John is an absolute must! Highly recommended!

Nuestra estancia fue excelente. La habitación de estilo japonés era muy bonita, con vistas al jardín, amplia. Cada detalle estaba muy cuidado. Tuvimos la suerte de conocer mejor a Ikuko y Michael. Acudimos a una ceremonia del té organizada por Ikuko que fue súper interesante, conforme con la tradición japonesa. Al día siguiente dimos una vuelta Michael, incluyendo visita guiada de una plantación de té, donde degustamos una gran variedad de tés en un ambiente realmente increíble. Los anfitriones son gente muy amable, acogedora e interesante. Muchísimas gracias por todo y hasta la próxima!

Great place in lovely neighborhood, very clean, the best thing is that you can learn how to make onigiri during you breakfast, very lovely.

This guest house is will be the best choice. The host tommy is very kind and mindful. He speaks english very well, so someone who didn't speak japanese will be satified. Also, the domitory bed was very nice. It's cozy and comfotable. And Tommy will give you breakfast If you request. The toast was tasty. I recommend this guest house, you will not regret your choice. Camera in stile giapponese come da foto e descrizione. L’host è stato veramente gentilissimo nel venire incontro a ogni nostra richiesta. Posizione molto comoda per visitare numerosi templi e le vie più tradizionali e tipiche di Kyoto. Consigliato!

yukie的客房在我们到达的几天前起火了。很遗憾我们没能体验到这个房间，但是yukie和kavin为我们找到了另一个住处，我们住进了他们的朋友，津川夫妇家。津川夫妇也是非常友好和热情的人，我们非常愉快，就像多了两位家人一样。 感谢yukie总是非常及时和热情地回复我们的消息，并来车站接我们。yukie的英语很好，并且很乐于交流。我们很高兴在一起聚餐，并认识来自斯洛文尼亚的朋友。这里是日本的乡村地区，很多风俗和景致都与城市不同。我们很高兴能有这样的体验，这是一个安宁、恬淡、美丽的地方。y & k的精神深深感染了我。我非常希望一切困难都能被克服，祝你们平安、健康、幸福！

I had a fantastic stay at this Airbnb in Kyoto! The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, always ready to help out with any questions or needs. The location is great – it’s about a 10-15 minute walk to the nearest station and equally close to popular spots like Sanjo and Nishiki Market, making it easy to explore the area. One of the highlights of my stay was definitely the breakfast. It wasn’t just a standard continental breakfast – each morning, they prepared a full, delicious spread for every guest, which was such a treat to start the day. You could really feel the care and effort they put into making everyone feel at home. The room was clean, comfortable, and had everything I needed. The only minor issue was the washer and dryer, which are a bit dated. The dryer took a while to dry a half load, so I’d recommend doing smaller loads or planning laundry for when you have some time to hang out. Overall, I loved my stay here and would absolutely recommend it to anyone visiting!

Wir hatten einen tollen Aufenthalt. Die Zimmer sind sehr hübsch und das Frühstück war fantastisch! Die Lage war für uns perfekt. Wir wurden sehr nett empfangen und verabschiedet. Die Unterkunft war für uns insgesamt sehr gut, ist allerdings (nachts) hellhörig, was beim Schlafen stören kann. Es werden aber Ohropax kostenlos bereitgestellt. Vielen Dank für die Gastfreundschaft! Out of all the places that we stayed in while we were in Japan, Takumi's place will be the most memorable. From the beautiful home in the quaint village to the five star dinner and breakfast that was prepared for us by our host. It truly was such a unique experiences and we are very grateful, Arigato Goziamasu! Also, if Takumi makes you soup, the soup is done when the fire burns out 😀

J'ai passé un très bon séjour chez Chiaki et Hiro. Ils ont tout fait pour que je me sente bien, ils sont attentionnés et intéressants. La maison est très confortable et mignonne. La cuisine était excellente. Je recommande 🤗
