i went to Shela to have some quiet days after a few crazy weeks and Abdillah's place was the perfect spot. i spent countless hours on the balcony reading with a breathtaking view. for my budget I don't think I could have found a better place. the appartment is extremely well situated in the village, few meters away from any restaurants, docks and beach. their is no hot water in the shower but it didn't bother me at all as it is so warm. i would recommend this place to anyone who wants to visit Lamu and looking for something simple and confortable. Abdillah was the perfect host, he was very kind and caring. He arranged my transfer from the airport and walked me around the village to show me grocery stores, restaurants, shop and activities.

Jane was very helpful even before our trip, her house, Jaha is definitely prettier than the pictures. She has done a good job with the interior and she a nice collection of books you can read while relaxing. James the chef made such tasty meals, his soups are a must have 😅 Juma was also very proactive and he helped us around the Island. Jane has done well with her team, including Nasir who picked and dropped us at Manda Airport. We had a such a lovely stay.

Paradise! The Shanti Beach House was an exceptional place to spend our last week in Kenya. The staff was excellent and answered any questions that we had about the island, traveling to Shela/Lamu or the food. We never did try any of the restaurants as Katana’s cooking was magnificent. Any little hint of what we might like to try for a meal and he made it happen! The accommodations were exactly as described, but the outdoor shower was the best part! Leave your cares behind and unwind at this beautiful beach front property. I highly recommend!!

I had the absolute pleasure of staying with Monia in her Airbnb in Lamu for over a month, and it was truly a five-star experience from start to finish. Monia is an incredibly welcoming and thoughtful host—she made me feel right at home the moment I arrived. Not only did she go above and beyond in making sure I had everything I needed, but she also took the time to introduce me to her wonderful friends and shared so many fantastic recommendations for places to visit, local attractions, and amazing restaurants. Her local knowledge and warm hospitality made my time in Lamu unforgettable. The accommodation itself was perfect—comfortable, clean, and beautifully located. I couldn't have asked for a better stay. Monia's kindness and generosity really made this trip special. I highly recommend staying with her if you're ever in Lamu—she is truly a one-of-a-kind host, and I can't wait to return! Honestly, you'd be silly not to stay here—Monia will make sure your time in Lamu is nothing short

My family and I absolutely enjoyed our stay at Marianne's! She was very communicative throughout our stay, upon arrival to our departure. While the house is a bit of a walk away from the waterfront (within the dunes) it felt as though we were part of the community and truly felt the love and hospitality of the Shela community. Will definitely be coming again in the future!

Our stay at Ttunu House was absolutely incredible. The property is stunning and spacious, offering multiple areas to relax. The rooms are enormous and feature beautiful, immaculate bathrooms. The team made our experience even more exceptional. Cornelius, the house manager, was incredibly attentive and went above and beyond to accommodate our needs, arranging activities and offering fantastic recommendations. Chef Stephan's meals were delicious, and he was very flexible with our requests, even taking us to the market to shop for our stay. Jackson, the housekeeper, kept Ttunu House spotless and took care of our laundry every day. We truly lacked for nothing. Ttunu House is, without a doubt, the perfect place for a magical vacation.
