We stayed at Ian's for 6 nights & we found the house clean & comfortable. The beds were really comfortable & the area was quiet. It was lovely having the garden especially as the weather was dry & sunny. We now live in Scotland & travelled down south to visit friends & family & as we know the area reasonably well this location was ideal. Ian was available if we had any queries & he was a great host

Beautiful lockside property, amazing location with two great pubs right across the way. House was nice and cosy when we arrived and the heating was great all weekend long. We especially loved the conservatory where we at our breakfast in the sun. Perfect for dogs and lots of beautiful walks nearby. Would definitely return in summer. Great stay thank you

David & Karen are great hosts. Their house & garden were beautiful & kitted out with practically everything you would need. We will most definitely be using their services again when we next go back to the UK. Thank you both! X

Love Old Leigh. Needed somewhere while visiting family locally and where better. Somehow managed to never see the tide in. Parking was good considering how busy the area is.

We spent a very happy Christmas at the house visiting relatives in the area. The house is well appointed and extremely comfortable - though you do need to be a fan of soft beds (which I am). Everything worked and was scrupulously clean. The only problem we had was that the fuse for the cooker and oven had been tripped before we arrived but there was a rapid response to our (panicky) phone call and we were able to locate the fuse board. The area only has one small shop but it's a fairly quick walk or train ride to the town. Overall very nice stay and we had lots to do around Southend including the pantomime and the Helen Mirren phone box / museum! Worth a quick look. (I think it was on the corner of Alexander Road and Cashiobury Terrace). Anyway, thank you.

Lovely place to stay whilst working in the area

What an incredible place!! There was lots of really interesting information available about the location - the only national reserve where you can stay the night! The hut was very cosy, and the fireplace kept us very warm. It was quite easy to use the kitchen, just keep your meals simple. We were treated kindly and inclusively. I would recommend this to anyone!

Sara's house was immaculate and beautifully furnished. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen well equipped, and the bathroom very clean. It was a convenient location for us to stay while visiting my daughter at the university, just 5 minutes drive from the centre of Southend. There are shops and cafes etc just around the corner too. The only thing I hadn't realised was the fact the bathroom is downstairs just off the kitchen which wasn't ideal for my mum doing midnight trips to the loo! But we managed. We also hadn't realised about the security payment but that's my own fault for not reading the House Rules on the advert. Sara was very communicative and helpful around this. All in all, a highly recommended house.

Stay was Good, But Need to improve some things Mainly Guest supply’s.The Tv needs to change I think have some issues. Also Bathroom shower head was leaking wasting water .One of the chair leg was broken.WC cover lid was loose not comfortable while using.

It was the perfect home away from home! Everything was super straightforward and accessible including shops, parks/open spaces, check in, parking etc. The home was beautifully decorated, clean and tidy. Not a bad word to say about my visit and if I’m ever in the area again I would definitely stay again :)

Fabulous stay and gorgeous Captain’s Cabin. Perfect for a young family of four. Hosts were fabulous, free parking, great instructions. Clean, fresh, and exactly as described. And most of all was lovely to find an Airbnb priced fairly - feels like almost the entire platform is now absurdly overpriced and a refreshing change to see somewhere priced fairly. Would highly recommend and a final thank you to our warm and friendly hosts. First class.
