Thanks so much Jessica for hosting us on our first stop on (our version of) the NC500. We had such a wonderful time in your little oasis outside Cromarty. Perfect location for exploring the Black Isle and everything it has to offer. We were very lucky with the weather and to see dolphins almost on cue at nearby Chanonry Point. The nearby Fairy Glen falls were gorgeous and thanks for the recommendation of Big Burn Walk in Golspie, that was stunning! By far our best memories are sitting in the hot tub watching the deer in the fields, the sun go down, and bats soaring above our heads. Spectacular. Thanks so much for everything!! :)

A fantastic stay from start to finish! The cabin was exactly as pictured, cleaned to a high standard and has everything you could need and more inside. Yvonne was a fantastic host who was very responsive and provided lots of recommendations for things to do and places to eat.

Very clean and tidy. Hot tub was perfect. Beautiful area with lots of lovely small towns and nice walks. Highly recommended!

This is an amazing find. Honestly the best place we've stayed, hands down. The facilities in the cabin are great, the hot tub outstanding, and the log fire just sealed the deal. It felt like a Highland lodge, decorated so well, and so comfy and cosy. Our dog Jet had a fantastic time too, she really loved the outdoor area. The location is incredible, so peaceful and quiet, the isolation from the hustle and bustle is just what we needed. Fortrose is only 6 minutes away so getting to the beach and Fairy Falls was easy peasy. If Fiona and Stephen will have us again, we'll definitely rebook.

Die Lage ist sehr schön, abgelegen, mit Schaf- und Kuhweiden. Die Tomatin Destillerie ist sehr nahe und sehr zu empfehlen! Auch Inverness ist sehr nahe und für den Einkauf ist Aviemore sehr zu empfehlen, hat dort einen Lidl und mehr. (waren mit dem Mietauto unterwegs) Einziger Punkt: die Küche ist recht einfach ausgestattet, wir hatten daher in Aviemore noch ein-zwei Küchenutensilien dazugekauft. Bei Fragen und Themen standen James und Kitty immer zur Verfügung und eine Antwort kam schnell zurück. Zur Information: es befinden sich zwei Lodges nebeneinander, die jeweils auch an Familien mit kleinen Kinder vermietet werden. Wer mit seinem Partner alleine Zweisamkeit sucht, muss daher berücksichtigen, dass auch Kinderlärm vorhanden sein kann.

A return visit for us, another beautiful peaceful break from our busy lives. Would recommend the Juniper hut to everyone. Cosy cabin with everything you could need,with so much to see only a short drive away.

Wild Thistle Lodge absolutely blew us away! From the moment we arrived, we knew we had found something truly special. The location is out of this world — the views are simply breathtaking, like something from a postcard. Every corner of the lodge was immaculate, cozy, and clearly designed with so much love and attention to detail. Jane, our host, went above and beyond to make our stay unforgettable. She had a full folder waiting for us with recommendations for local restaurants, activities, and even directions to everything — it made exploring the area so easy and stress-free. It’s rare to find a place where you feel completely at home the minute you walk in, but Wild Thistle Lodge was exactly that. The peaceful surroundings, the stunning views, the thoughtful touches throughout the lodge — it all came together to create one of the best stays we have ever had. We are already planning our next trip back. If you’re considering booking Wild Thistle Lodge — don’t hesitate for a second.

A lovely and cosy lodge with great amenities such as the hot tub. Gail was fantastic host from start to finish. We will definitely come back.

My girlfriend and I stayed for 2 nights, we really appreciated the proximity to the town and to the wilderness. We enjoyed staying in the cozy spot with the stream flowing in the back of the place.

Absolutely lovely place that we didn't want to leave! Very quaint location away from everything. We were surrounded by farm animals, was lovely seeing chickens, rooster and even a peacock running around! The cabin turned out to be more spacious than the photos made it look. It was clean and well stocked with necessities. The highlight was definitely seeing the Aurora on our first night there! Would recommend to anyone who wants a peaceful getaway, 6/5 stars!

Idyllic wee haven in outskirts of Aviemore. The two of us stayed for 3 nights with our two little dogs. Drove daily into Aviemore and surrounding areas to explore but was lovely to return to the little cabin. It has everything you need & its rural setting is so peaceful allowing you to escape the everyday hustle and bustle back home, you truly feel at the heart of the Cairngorms. We booked to stay early April and we’re very lucky with the weather, however the cabin would be lovely to stay during any season. We have just returned home, missing it already - & the views!! Would definitely recommend & will definitely return. Host’s Elizabeth & David are lovely too - what a gem of a place they have!

Wir waren nach einer anstrengenden Anreise eine Nacht zur Entspannung hier und es war so wunderbar. Einchecken, genießen, schlafen, essen, Fernsehen, schlafen... Perfekt! Action gäbe es genug, die haben wir nur nicht gesucht!!! Alles wunderbar! Danke

Gillies Rest is a great stay and I would definitely recommend it if you are looking for a hike in the nearby area. Place is exactly as advertised, please make sure you check what is available and what are the limitations. Place was extremely clean, the beds were really comfy and the kitchen was very well equipped. Overall - it was great and hopefully we'll return someday.

What a wonderful stay we had at Rachel's cabin! Everything was perfect, and we felt in love with the area! so peaceful and beautiful! The scenic road to go to Culkein is unbelievable! The house is perfect, very nice and comfy! The view is stunning! It was very clean and tidy! Our two girls loved our stay there, so we had! And Rachel and her husband are very friendly and nice! Thank you very much! 🙂

Heerlijke cabin. Zeer ruim en heel veel licht binnen. Uitzicht op de zee en de bergen. Prachtige omgeving met onmiddellijke toegang tot het (keien)strand. Wilde herten rond het huis. Alasdair was zeer gastvrij en heeft ons uit de nood geholpen met keelpastilles op een zondagavond, duizendmaal dank! Kortom een heerlijk plekje om te verblijven.

Cabina davvero stupenda con una vista spettacolare! Lauren poi è un host fantastica, ci ha accolto molto calorosamente e ci ha dato tantissimi consigli, nonchè lasciato le uova fresche della sua gallina (adorabile, ogni mattina passava fuori la cabina a darci il buongiorno :). La cabina era caldissima al nostro arrivo, molto gradito in questo freddo periodo di novembre! Il posto è magnifico, perfetto per chi cerca un piccolo angolo di paradiso, lontano dalle luci artificiali della città, e in cui avere modo di ammirare benissimo le stelle e la natura, immersi nel silenzio. Puoi avvistare tanti animali selvatici (noi abbiamo avuto la fortuna non solo di vedere tante specie di uccelli, ma anche una lontra pescare e poi venire a farsi una passeggiata a riva non molto distante da noi!). La cabina è davvero adorabile, super confortevole, pulitissima, dotata di una doccia grande e un letto comodissimo. Un atmosfera bellissima all'interno e un alloggio attrezzato di tutto l'indispensabile

This cozy cottage was warm, welcoming and extremely clean and modern. We were a family of four and didn't find it crowded. Mary was so kind and left us lots of treats, coffee and tea. Super appreciated! It was close to Culloden Battlefields and Inverness city, but far enough away from the bustle. We all slept well in the comfy beds and it was quiet at night. Thanks so much Mary!

We absolutely loved our stay at Sara’s cabin. The location was perfect for us - quiet, beautiful, comfortable. Walking and kayaking from the door and we were treated to a couple of otter sighting whilst we were there. Sara was a great host, and did everything she could to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Would highly recommend.

An amazing cabin in a bit of the world that I love. The Cabin was perfectly located, close to everything within Durness and the amenities are over and above what you would expect for being so far North. Fiona was pro-active in getting the hot water sorted when we had an issue. The space is lovely and has everything you need, fireplace both internal and external are excellent places to spend a night just relaxing. Hopefully we will be back soon to enjoy and would recommend to anyone spending more than a a night in the area.

A great place to stay! We spent 5 nights in the cabin and LOVED it! The surroundings are so beautiful and there's so many animals - deers, a goose, a highland cow, horses, and bunnies! The hosts were very helpful and responsive. There's a coin-operated laundry facility on site, as well as a pub open in the evenings. The cabin itself was comfortable and clean, though perhaps slightly dated in furnishings. Would stay again:)

Laura was quick to respond to my booking. We managed to check in earlier than expected and her littlen even came to say hello once we can settled in, it was very sweet! Place was clean and beautifull decorated. Wasn't the easiest place to find first time but that is our fault as maps sent us to the wrong place 🤣 Nearest big shop is 30 minutes away so come prepared! All in all a beautiful place to stay!

Great little cabin which fulfilled all our needs, excellently appointed and pristinely clean. Great views front and back, the under floor heating meant we were always warm and cosy. The little extras left were very much appreciated, communication with Eilidh was always easy and responsive. We walked up to the swing bridge, then back along the canal to Laggan locks, where we had drinks and ate at The eagle floating barge which was good fun and some stunning views. Great base for trips to Skye, Fort William, Glencoe, Eilean Donan castle, Fort Augustus and Loch Ness. We will back
