Had a lovely stay at Kim’s cabin. Enjoyed the garden, the bath, the random books selection as well. Everything was clean and very cute. Love the small attentions too. Waked to the recommended cafe which was really nice. The Otaki Beach market was nice for a stroll on Sunday morning. Lots of places to see in the area! Thank you Kim!

This electric little gem is exactly what it says it is. We loved our overnight stay here. The hot spring tub in the garden was blissful. The cooking and sleeping facilities had everything we needed. The walk around the nearby hot springs was a fascinating, low key walk around boiling mud and steam vents. A far cry from touristy Rotarua. We feel very lucky to have found this peaceful retreat.

Great base to do the crossing from. Spa pool was a wonderful touch. Even though there are neighbouring cabins/cottages it doesn’t feel crowded or too busy. Would definitely stay again. Thanks!

This really is a unique retreat! It was an amazing short getaway where we were able to relax in a truly beautiful place. I loved how cosy the cottage was and stepping outside in the evening under a moonlight sky and solar lights was truly magical! So pleased we booked this place!

Comfortable and cosy. Lovely spa pool and fire with firewood and kindling ready to go. Only complaint was the dim lighting in the living area which made reading and board games hard to see. Other than that, we loved it and would recommend to others.

Our stay was fantastic, comfortable, and exactly what we needed before the long drive back home. The volunteers were enthusiastic and made us feel right at home. It was a little hot inside the room but that was easily solved by leaving the door open while we were inside.

We stayed here for a couple of nights as a base to do the Tongariro crossing. Good space with a full kitchen and comfy furniture. National park is not very big so it's a 2 minute walk to the bar/restaurant/shop. Great base for activities. highly recommend.

We stayed two night with my wife and our 5 months old daughter at Cara’s place, we had a very nice time. The house is well located with an amazing view on the lake. The house is well equipped and very confortable. We would definitely recommend staying there!

Paula was incredibly responsive and accommodating during our stay. The cabin exceeded our expectations, looking even better than the photos. Hearing the story of how they built it themselves added a special touch. It’s an ideal spot to unwind and recharge. Just a heads up, a SUV or Ute is recommended for the rocky track leading to the cabin. Overall, it’s a fantastic place! Thank you for hosting us!

Excellent accomodation and host. Everything was clean, with little extras like a selection of spreads for breakfast and milk appreciated.

Was für eine wunderschöne Blockhütte in sehr ruhiger Lage. Die Einrichtung ist sehr liebevoll arrangiert und blitzsauber. Das Beste ist aber die Aussicht auf eine wunderbare, weite Landschaft. Delly hat uns sehr freundlich empfangen. Leider hat es geregnet, aber auch ohne die große Terrasse unter dem Baum nutzen zu können war es ein sehr relaxter Vielen Aufenthalt. Vielen Dank Delly

Kirsty’s place was exactly what we needed for our trip away. Kirsty was lovely and was so helpful and presented Rakau’s Rest very well. We enjoyed chatting with her and she made us so welcome. Highly recommended if you need somewhere to stay and relax for a few days away from it all.
