Atlanta's rail transportation called MARTA has its Midtown station on 10th Street just four blocks west with connecting buses at the station. Lyft and Uber are usually within a two minute wait any time of day or night so there is no need for a rental car. The streets are lighted at night and relatively safe for walking; however, just like in any major city, your attention should be focused on your surroundings and not on your smartphone.
