We loved our stay at the castle. It was a magical experience to stay in the romance suite. We brought our two young girls and they felt like princesses. Having a tour of the grounds once we arrived helped put into perspective the significance of where we would be staying and it was interesting to hear about the history. It was a beautiful location and a unique experience. We would highly recommend it to anyone looking to stay in this region.

The lodge was unbelievably beautiful and the pictures don’t do it justice. Felt like a dream and the host was great. Made sure we had what we needed for a peaceful and pleasant stay. Probably one of the best views we’ve had while enjoying our breakfast. Would absolutely recommend East Lodge and will have to come back

Great value for the money. Washer and dryer were an added bonus. Very private and beautiful area.

We had an absolutely fantastic stay at Hornby Castle. The location is stunning, and the property itself exceeded all our expectations – full of character, charm, and beautifully maintained. Caroline was a wonderful host – warm, friendly, and incredibly helpful with some great local recommendations that made our trip even more special. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this place to anyone, and if we’re ever in the area again, we’ll definitely be back. A solid five out of five – truly a memorable experience!

Nous tenons à remercier Pat pour son accueil chaleureux dans son château. C'est un hôte passionné qui sait transmettre l'histoire de sa demeure familiale. Le château possède un charme d'antan qui nous a ravis. Même avec deux nuits nous aurions aimé y rester plus longtemps. Excellent séjour.

We had the most wonderful time in this beautiful place. The Old Brewhouse was lovely - very comfortable, cosy and homely. The surrounding gardens and estate are stunning and the chance to watch the wild beavers at work was incredibly special. It is also a brilliant area for birdwatching. We didn't use our car at all - just went on a variety of walks from the cottage. We would love to go back again. Thank you!

We stayed here a few years ago but loved it so much we returned. Happy to report it was still a great place to say. So much space that a group of 12 (6 kids) could disappear into their own spaces or gather together for meals and games. East access to city or countryside. The castle is very well equipped and beds are comfortable. Hope this was not our last visit.

Zowie was quick and easy to communicate with. Her instructions were clear and helpful. The location is an easy 45 minute drive into Edinburgh but if you prefer not to drive, a bus stop is just down the hill. Huge bathtub was relaxing, Netflix worked great on the TV, everything we needed was in the kitchen. Great place! Thanks Zowie!

Très bel emplacement pour cet appartement. Il s’agit bien d’un appartement parmi d’autres dans l’abbaye. Belle vue sur le loch ness.

Wat een heerlijke plek om te verblijven. Een goed uitgeruste keuken, een mooie buitenkeuken, fijne bedden en ook nog veel leuke plekken in het huis om te zitten. De tuin is ook erg fijn zeker met het mooie weer wat we hadden. We hebben veel in de zon gezeten en kregen zo nu en dan bezoek van de koeien van de buurman die in het aangrenzende weiland stonden. De communicatie verliep prima en we voelden ons zeer welkom.

Wonderful stay at Eight Bells Cottage. The cottage is cosy and very tastefully furnished with well equipped kitchen and bathroom. The hosts are responsive and very friendly with helpful advice about the area. We would definitely return to this beautiful cottage and stunning area.

A great place to stay with a large group, plenty of bed space, TV, table football and pool table. Would stay here again.

A beautiful place to stay , with so many extras , felt totally private and loved the use of the outdoor seating area and hot tub . Both me & my wife said it had been one of our favourites, note to others book somewhere to eat if travelling at the weekend. The only ‘extras’ we d of liked would have been robes & slippers but that said that’s being picky . A beautiful find .

Een unieke locatie. Prachtige burcht. Erg blij met dit weekendje. Mijn man wilde wel weer terug. De oprit is wat rommelig, maar als huiseigenaren begrijpen wij als geen ander dat een huis (en zeker een burcht) heel veel werk kost. Het interieur is typisch Duits, de tapijtachtige wandbekleding niet ideaal bij mogelijk huisstofmijt intoleratie, maar verder waren we heel tevreden met de grote bijzondere ruimte! Goede en duidelijke communicatie, en prima prijs-kwaliteit verhouding!

It was a real pleasure to stay in the lavender gite in the grounds of the chateau Michael's renovating. What made our stay special was the warm and friendly hospitality from Michael and his friend Gabi, and the beautiful gardens he's created around the gites, the chateau and the swimming pool. It was a bit too chilly to use the pool in our stay, but it looked very inviting in better weather!

A wonderful stay to celebrate our history buff friend - truly felt like staying in the castle itself! We used all Ed’s and a sofa. Which was comfy, and even booked the extra bedroom. The walks around the gate house are wonderful and provide great views. Hosts are super responsive and very helpful, and we even made use of the 25% at the castle during our stay.

We thoroughly enjoyed our family vacation to Normandy this year. The chateau was beautiful and an easy driving distance to the D-Day Beaches and Mont Saint Michele. Bayeux, Caen and Falaise are close and have an interesting mixture of which medieval and WW2 history. We are very grateful to Annika as she provided excursion and restaurant suggestions which were spot on. We had also wanted a chef to come in and cook a meal for us based on the local cuisine. The chef Annika recommended cooked a delicious meal for us and this was one of many highlights of our trip. Please utilize Florence the housekeeper. She had home cooked meals ready for us to enjoy for both lunch and dinner. I highly recommend for those who fly in overnight, We also loved the grounds. We played yard games daily and loved watching the children play the Duke of Normandy. Thank you Annika for helping us to have such a wonderful vacation!

We wanted something peaceful and in the countryside and this was perfect. A little town nearby for a wander round and a good pub for a nice meal at The Raven. The log burner was a great feature for us too to be able to sit and chat and relax in the evening. If you want to get away from your everyday routine modern life this will be as perfect for you as it was for us. Also the hosts responded quickly and were really friendly and helpful.

A lovely place that has private access to lake Windermere. Great base to explore the area. Very spacious accommodation and the garden views are wonderful, and a lovely scenic view of the lake as well.
