Nestled in a backyard that's home to three cute dwarf goats and a flock of hens, this little cabin overlooks the hot tub, back woods, and greenhouse. Serenity and relaxation await you. Complete with an outdoor shower (in the summer months), this is a great place to unwind. Close to the Columbia River Gorge and Mt Hood and only 30 mins to downtown Portland - you get the best of both worlds. The cabin is good for couples and solo adventurers.

This little cabin is tucked into my half acre backyard. Surrounded by a garden, goats, hens, old growth fir trees, canvas wall tent (which also hosts guests), and a hot tub - you will also have access to a half bath with a toilet, sink, and laundry in the main house - as well as an outdoor shower on the deck in the summer months. These spaces are shared. The cabin, however, is all yours.

The cabin itself is equipped with a queen size bed with memory foam mattress, a table with two chairs, a hot water kettle, a dresser, as well as a very-mini fridge. This is a space to unwind and relax.

You'll have access to the cabin, the yard, hot tub, deck, outdoor grill, outdoor shower and tub (in the summer months), and half bath (toilet, sink, washer and dryer) in the main house.

All spaces other than the cabin are shared. Please note that in the winter the outdoor shower is not available (freezing temps mean frozen pipes). Please also keep in mind that there may be guests in the canvas wall tent out back in the woods. I also host an Airbnb experience Indigo dye class out of my home studio (if you're interested in learning indigo, let me know!).

I'll be there when available! I'll probably say hi and make sure you're doing alright, or answer questions that you have. If we're using the shared spaces at the same time then you'll see me a bit more. I am out with the animals daily doing chores. I'm here when you need me, but respect your privacy.

Otros aspectos destacables

Please be mindful that this is a bit of a rustic space. In the summer months there's a outdoor shower, in the winter months the outdoor shower is closed and you will need to coordinate with me to use the shower in the main house. The half back (toilet and sink) is always available though.

I live here as well as my roommate, we appreciate quiet guests, and will give you your privacy during your stay (we like ours as well). We do use the common areas though, so you can expect to see us on occasion.

Please don't feed any of the animals (many things are harmful to them).

Carolyn's place is described perfectly here. What I especially appreciated was the ease of communication, and how detailed the guidelines for guests are. If you want a sweet place outside of the main hub of Portland with a choice of heading to town or out to the woods, this is the place for you!

I only stayed one night but everything was perfect and wish I could’ve stayed a bit longer. After five days of traveling through Oregon and Washington, we made it around 8pm. The house was hard to find because there were no street lights. As soon as you walk into the backyard, it looks inviting and everything was lit up. The hot tub is a must and the shower outside was perfect. We didn’t get a chance to see the chickens or goats which is upsetting but that’s alright. The heaters at night were great!

Respuesta de Carolyn:
So sorry you were unable to spend some time with the goats Abby! They are always happy to receive treats, even at night if you're willing to brave the dark for a walk out to their pen with the goat treats. Sorry about the exterior lighting on the street as well - it is a bit hard since I am set so far back off the street - the city doesn't seem to want to add any more street lighting unfortunately.

Carolyn was very easy to communicate with and very accommodating to my schedule. Her place was welcoming and easy to get comfortable in. Plus the goats were a nice bonus. Highly recommend!

This cabin is super cute and a lovely experience overall but not exactly what I had in mind. My biggest problem was being able to hear the frequently used road nearby and the airplanes passing by overheard from PDX. It's described as serene but didn't feel exactly like that. Also, if you're going to be staying here during the fall/winter months- you may want to bring heavier clothes or a plug in heater of your own because the ceramic wall heater inside the cabin does a poor job of warming up the place. However, I really liked the decorations inside the cabin and it was clean. The bathroom being inside the main house was no problem at all. Carolyn is very friendly and had clear, fast communication with me leading up to my trip. The goats were adorable as promised and meeting a hen as soon as I walked into the backyard was a nice accent. Lastly, the soap in the bathroom was a highlight of my stay because it smelled so amazing. Thanks Carolyn! :)

Respuesta de Carolyn:
Thanks so much Nicole - Just wanted to clarify a few points for future guests - there are multiple heaters in the space during the winter as well as extra wool blankets, and I am always happy to turn up the heat prior to your arrival if you are arriving toward the evening - so just let me know. I also have earplugs in the space and a sound machine for any sort of road noise - though no one has mentioned it as an issue before. If you need anything - reach out! I'm happy to accommodate your needs.

Such a sweet little cabin! Carolyn did s great job of making it feel like a retreat. The goats are my favorite for sure, but the inquisitive chickens, the vintage inspired fridge, the stacks of old nature books, and the cozy bed are a close second :) would absolutely recommend! Clean, close drive to a cute downtown, and very quiet. Didn’t try the hot tub but I’m wishing we had!

If you're staying in Portland and you want a private, comfortable and whimsical place to stay then look no further! Carolyn has decorated her backyard cabin with an elegant but rustic chic eye. Her menagerie of goats and chickens was our favorite part but a close second was the outside tin bath. I'll admit to being a bit skeptical at first but am so glad I 'took the plunge'. What a refreshing way to start my morning! You will not regret booking this (URL HIDDEN) it before it's too late! =)

Hi there, I'm Carolyn! I'm from Portland, OR. I travel a lot! I am friendly, laid back, and always looking for a bit of adventure. I love to cook, travel (obviously), see art and sights, thrift, and to hike! I'm also an artist, and have a keen eye for aesthetics. When I'm not at work or on the road you'll find me playing in the woods with my border collie / Australian shepherd mix - Levi, or working hard in studio in preparation for my next show. As a guest I am pretty low maintenance, and enjoy finding quirky spots to stay in - the more eccentric the better! I also host out of my half acre homestead in Portland. I look forward to sharing it with you as a host so that you can appreciate my knack for creating visual experiences in person!
