Welcome to the Loon Nest! Relive the nostalgic cabin experience of your youth. This 2-bedroom Leech Lake, lakefront cabin is perfect for families and fisherfolk. Built by my grandparents in 1965, our family has infused it with love for 51 years and we would love to share it with you. Just bring your boat or fishing poles! You could even catch whoppers off the pier!
Many record-setting muskies were caught and released by my grandpa and dad while staying here. Facing Goose Island (a renowned fishing locale) on the big part of Leech Lake, you have unparalleled views and access.
There are two bedrooms, each containing a brand new queen mattress. There is also an inflatable queen mattress that would be ideal in the living room area. The living room and kitchen/dining room have an open plan with high timber ceilings.
Bring your boat! There is a pier and shore station for a small boat to which you have access, complete with a foldable filet station on the front porch. Additional amenities include: washing machine, DVD player, DVDs, full kitchen and bath, fireplace, a lakefront fire pit, picture windows, and an outdoor sitting porch.
Take a step back in time! For over fifty years my family has cared for the cabin; my grandma created all the rag rugs that still cover the floors and all the decor is vintage and original. If you are looking for a fabulous lakefront getaway on Leech Lake, welcome to the Loon Nest. We are happy to answer any additional questions you may have.

It's a pleasure to be hosting you. We want to ensure you have a lovely and seamless trip. We love our home and hope you will too. Thank you in advance for taking good care of it during your stay.
The general rule of thumb with Airbnb is to leave the space as you found it. We clean the sheets/towels after each guest leaves and complete light surface area cleaning as well.
•There is absolutely NO SMOKING.
•Please make sure to clean all dishes before departing.
•Please take your trash with you. Any food waste can be composted in wooded areas.
•Please only bring well-behaved pooches and please clean up all dog poop outside.
•Please use caution when using the fireplace. Don’t forget to open the damper when you use it, clean out all ash when you are finished, and close the damper when finished.
•Please be courteous to the neighbors.
•You are welcome to use the closets in the bedrooms.
•We have a septic tank, so please be conscious water users.
•Please do not throw anything other than toilet paper in the toilet. Toilet paper is found in the wicker hamper next to the toilet.
•Most things you need should be labeled on the cabinets for you to find them.
•Use anything you find in the refrigerator or pantry. Please do not leave anything perishable in the refrigerator when you leave.
•Help yourself to the use of the fans (found in the bedrooms). If you need the heat, please feel free to use it; each room has its own thermostat. Turn it off when you leave.
•We made a dog ramp to get into the lake, feel free to use it, just bring it back on shore when you are done. There is a stake with an orange tag to indicate where to put the top of the ramp for best access into the lake.
•If you bring your boat, you are welcome to use the shore station on our dock. It will accommodate a boat up to 16feet. We have a 16' Lund with a 25HP engine that we use on the shore station. If your boat is larger, the shore station might not work.
•Please do not tie your boat directly to the dock. If there are waves, it can crash into the dock and cause it to separate and float away. Not to mention, put your boat at risk.
•We do not have a launch, but we have an agreement with a neighboring resort 3 miles away- Buck’s Oak Point Resort (10583 Oak Point Rd NW, Cass Lake, MN 56633). You can launch your boat here for a $5 fee in, $5 fee out. Please understand that this is a private resort, so they have requested that you not park there. As soon as the boat is launched, please drive back to our cabin and park. There will be someone on the grounds to collect your money, but if not, please leave it by their bait room under the door. Otherwise, below is an image of free public launches on Leech Lake. In the cabin you can find a map book of Leech and other nearby lakes. Please remember, Leech Lake is a big lake; if there is bad weather coming in, get back to the cabin. Waves can get scary!
Please respect and treat our home as you would your home. We will refund your damage deposit as soon as we inspect the cabin for any damage. There is no pet fee, but please be responsible pet owners and only bring your pets if you know there won't be any problems. There is no additional cleaning fee, but we will retain the damage deposit if there is excessive cleaning. The best way to avoid this is to leave the cabin as you found it.
There will be Wifi access starting August 17th.
