This is a sweet little room in a multi-room bnb. The home is a circa 1894 victorian in Galveston's East End Historic District. It is a short walk to downtown. There are two full baths shared with 3 other guest rooms. This room has a twin bed & desk.
The house is an 1894 victorian with multiple guest rooms. It has the feel of a small European style hotel as it's simply decorated with an interesting collection of antiques and vintage furniture. It has shared bathrooms with the exception of one room located downstairs. (Message me if you are looking for a private bath and are having trouble finding the listing.) It has a large communal kitchen and plenty of common areas to hang out. You’ll love staying here because of the laid-back atmosphere, the free (to borrow) bicycles, and the awesome guests who fill up the house.
Disponible para huéspedes
The house has a large wraparound porch, a second floor balcony, and a covered patio in the backyard with seating, hammocks, fire pit and bbq pit. There is plenty of firewood, so guests can make a fire anytime. We have 6 house bicycles available to borrow to cruise around the island. There is a coffee/snack bar, and a fully equipped kitchen for guests to prepare meals. Coffee, tea, creamer, water, and orange juice as well as fruit and some snacks are provided. Wifi is available throughout the property. Bath towels and beach towels are also provided. Guests also have access to a record player (please ask if you don't know how to use it), vinyl collection, as well as lots of books and board games. There are no TVs, but there is a strong emphasis on community here and there are usually fellow travelers to chat with or join for coffee. Coffee time lasts all morning, and you never know who will be in the kitchen reading or hanging out. In the evenings guests gather in the backyard at the picnic tables or in the hammocks. There is a bluetooth speaker you can use outside. There is also a lovely old upright piano that you can play outside under the carport (it has a waterproof cover but at this point I would say it makes some unique sounds). There is another piano inside which is actually tuned. There's also a house guitar, a concertina and a small collection of percussion instruments. The dining room is set up like a library, with adult coloring books, magazines, books, board games and a giant table where guests can work on their laptops.
*** PLEASE READ CAREFULLY BEFORE BOOKING ***
-- DO NOT show up at the house without messaging me to tell me your approximate time of arrival. If you do, I may not be home and/or your room may not be ready. I am not a shut-in, nor am I psychic.
-- DO NOT park in front of my next door neighbor's house. He doesn't like it, and you will be asked to move your car. Park on the side of the house with the wraparound porch. You may also park directly in front of my house.
-- Check-in is anytime after 3PM.
If you have special circumstances and need to check-in earlier, please let me know and I can try to accommodate.
-- No children under 13.
Yes, I know this sounds awful, but hotels are much better suited for children. This house was built in 1894, and it lacks the sound proofing of modern buildings. It also has 5 guest rooms filled with adults who might have been out late and would like to sleep. We've had problems in the past with kids yelling, crying, or running the hallway or stairs (just being kids, I know), but it doesn't work well when it disturbs the other guests. If it is a weekday or a slow weekend, when there are fewer guests in the house, I do make exceptions.
-- No Pets, again it mostly has to do with noise and clean-up.
This is not a hotel with a 24 hour housekeeping staff.
-- This is a TV free house.
We have books, music, magazines, board games, puzzles, card games musical instruments, and conversation. If you would like to watch TV, you would probably prefer a hotel.
Durante el período del 01 de Diciembre de 2017 - 03 de Diciembre de 2017 la estancia mínima es de 2 noches.
I'm available through messaging 24/7, and I'm usually around to check guests in and give a quick tour. However, there's also a coded entry so you can come and go as you please. I live in the 3rd floor apartment of the house, so if you need ANYTHING please ask. I love to meet and socialize with the guests, however sometimes I'm out of the house or working and we may not even get a chance to meet in person.
