This log cabin is set in the woods in a rural part of northeastern Vermont. Escape the hustle and bustle, clear your mind, and enjoy nature. A great place to get some fresh air or to stay in and take a nap. Beautiful summers for easy hikes and refreshing swims in the lakes of our local Groton State Forest, unbelievable foliage to view from small dirt roads, and tons of outdoor winter activities. Great for a couples getaway, friends weekend, or some quality time with the kids. Pets welcome, too!
First off, we (your hosts) like to try to give potential guests an idea of the region of Vermont in which we are located. It's important to emphasize how rural this region is - it's different from other parts of Vermont. We are located in the northeastern part of the state. We are on the opposite side of the state from Burlington and Lake Champlain, and we are east of all of the Central Vermont Ski areas. This area does not have a lot of tourism (relative to the other parts of the state) and in turn has a much smaller, more humble economy than the busier parts of the state. We have a lot of old farmland and meandering dirt roads. The town of Groton, where we are located, has a general store (about a 3 minute drive away from the cabin) and is home to Groton State Forest (about a 10 minute drive from the cabin). But besides that, most everything else (restaurants, bars, shops, ski resorts) is at least a 30-45 minute drive. We don't have a lot of the amenities or well-established outdoor adventure venues that the larger towns like Stowe, VT, Woodstock, VT, or Burlington, VT can offer. Our little of slice of Vermont is truly a place to get away from the more modern world and slow down. I think the best things to do in our immediate area and at the cabin are: star-gazing, napping in the hammock, sitting by the fire pit and roasting marshmallows, snow-shoeing through the backwoods around the cabin, and taking a kayak out on one of the very peaceful lakes in Groton State Forest. With that said, if you are willing to take a drive there are tons of things to do (and remember this is easy driving! very few stop lights and NEVER any traffic). We are right in between the Green Mountains and the White Mountains (about an hour from White Mountain State Park and an hour from Camel's Hump, Mt. Mansfield etc). We are 1 hour and 30 minutes from Burlington and Lake Champlain. A right turn out of the driveway and there are miles and miles of beautiful back roads that glow with reds, oranges and yellows during fall foliage. On a typical drive you will see old farm houses, country general stores with local goods, apples, syrup, and more. There are amazing breweries in all directions, some hidden in the coolest and smallest nooks of our beautiful Vermont hills. In the winter, you will be 45 minutes from the smaller ski mountains Burke Mountain and Bolton Valley, and 1 hour to 1 hour and 30 minutes from bigger ski resorts in all directions (Stowe, Sugarbush, Jay Peak, Loon Mountain, Bretton Woods, Sunapee, and more!). If back woods cross country skiing or snowshoeing is more your speed, there are picturesque old farm fields and backwoods trails within a 20 to 30 minute drive. If your not sure which direction to head in but know you are looking for an outdoor adventure, we will always be more than happy to offer advice, suggestions, and directions to personalize your experience and get you off the beaten path. As for the log cabin itself: it is located on a dirt road in the woods on the outskirts of Groton. Your hosts live in the house about a one or two minute walk up the hill from the log cabin. The two houses are separated by woods, so besides the shared driveway that passes in front of the cabin, the cabin has complete privacy. This is a modern cabin in almost every way. It has electricity, great insulation, central heat (in addition to an effective wood stove), microwave, full gas stove and oven, refrigerator, microwave, a full bathroom, a washer and dryer, a land-line telephone, and wifi. But we want to stress that this is a place to disconnect. Literally. You might get one bar of cell phone service. The cabin does not have TV or computers. Remember, if all you need is a place to rest and relax - this is your place. It's a great place to do nothing at all. You won't hear a thing at night and only a logging truck or two during the day. You can go outside on clear nights and see a sky full of stars. It's a great place to write, do yoga, nap, cuddle, sit around for hours and talk with your loved ones, or just be :)
You are in the middle of the woods. The road that the property is located on is a dirt road that is great for walks at all times of the year, night or day. There are houses every half a mile or so interspersed with woods and old farm land.

Our summer camp has been in the family for two generations. It has everything you need including piece and quiet in Vermont We have always loved the proximity to the lake, 12 feet from the porch.
This summer camp has been in the family for two generations. It is rustic in a Vermont way, but very easy to relax in. We have kept many of the antiques of multiple generations. We have always loved the proximity to the lake, 12 feet from the porch. We have sat on the sun porch and watched loons and on rarely a moose wonder right in front. The property comes with a canoe, but there is a dock where you could bring in your own small sailboat/jet ski/motor boat. The lake is often calm and a great place to water ski from. The water is clear and clean and swimming is so refreshing. The local state park has naturalist lead walks and there are many areas to hike. A short family hike for almost anyone is Owl's Head, a charming short hike to the top of an overlook of the lake. Biking is a great way to get around and nearby we connect to Vt. Bike path on the old railroad tracks! The camp is adjacent to the 25,000 acre Groton State Forest, located less than an hour drive from Montpelier, VT and White River Junction offers an array of natural features and recreation areas for park visitors to enjoy. With seven state parks, an extensive trail network, boulder studded sandy beaches, large glacial lakes, secluded ponds, dramatic cliffs and one of the largest bogs in Vermont nestled within it's boundaries, it is no surprise that Groton State Forest is a popular year-round outdoor recreation and camping destination. Miles of logging roads, snowmobile trails and gravel forest roads traverse and wind through Groton State Forest offering easy to moderate mountain biking, hiking and horseback riding opportunities. Cross-country skiing, snow-shoeing and snowmobiling are popular winter activities on the trail system as conditions allow. The paths travel in and out of the woods, past several lakes and ponds providing access to most of the interesting Groton State Forest features including Owlshead Mountain, Lake Groton, Kettle Pond, Peacham Bog and several historical sites. Off trail activities include picnicking, swimming, fishing, canoeing and kayaking. (see our Bikes & Beaches feature article for more detail). Tent and RV camping is available at the Ricker Pond, Stillwater, Big Deer and New Discover State Park campgrounds. There is even a bed & breakfast Lodge on Noyes Pond at Seyton Ranch State Park for those who prefer not to rough it. The Groton Nature Center, located on the shore of Lake Groton, offers a variety of Ranger led programs. Other park facilities include: hot showers, boat launches, playgrounds, picnic and recreation shelters, concession stands and more. The forest is primarily a second growth forest (see Historical Notes below) comprised mostly of northern hardwoods, the most common being maple, birch and beech. Spruce and fir can be found both in the lower and wetter areas along the streams and at the higher elevations. Wildlife is abundant and includes black bear, moose, mink, beaver, otter, fisher, loons and herons. Groton State Forest Mountain Bike Trails Mountain biking is available on almost all of the Groton State Forest roads (20 miles) which are basically gravel-surfaced roads marked with orange reflectorized diamonds, and other multi-use trails and roads specifically designated for mountain bike use. The multi-use trails are generally blazed with yellow paint. There are also over 17 miles of hiking only trails which are blazed with blue paint. (Trail bikes and all-terrain vehicles are prohibited anywhere on Vermont State land). See our list below for suggested mountain bike rides.
We are quite private. Directly on the lake. We are the next to the last camp on a dead end road so there is minimal traffic.

Old Cemetery Road Guest House is a Greek-Revival farmhouse-style home in a beautiful situation in Peacham one quarter mile from lovely Peacham Village and seven miles from Karme Choling Shambhala Meditation Center in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. Stay in our large, second-floor, east-corner guest room that is private, has a queen bed, sitting area with table and chairs and a full bath en suite. Continental breakfast and wifi included. (Please note that cell service is undependable in our area.) The house is in a serene, rural location, surrounded by pastures and meadows. We are three miles from the nearest convenience store and seven miles to restaurants. There's a beautiful hike up Devil's Hill with panoramic views and on the many dirt roads around this quiet, hilly town. Do you ski? You can back-country ski right from our door in the woods and fields around us, or at highly-recommended cross-country ski areas at Burke Mountain (40 minutes); Craftsbury Outdoor Center (1 hr.); or Kingdom Trails (Burke, 40 mins.). Great downhill skiing at Burke Mountain (40 mins.) or Cannon Mountain (N.H., 55 mins.) Peacham makes a good base for exploring northern Vermont. Two-night minimum, please.
We are in a rural area on a dirt road, which is common in our town. We are only 0.4 miles from the center of the village where there is a church, a craft guild, the library and our relatively new community-supported Peacham Cafe of which we are very proud.

¡Disfrutar!

This is a unique, cozy and energy efficient newly constructed home on 11 acres about 25 minutes from Montpelier, 50 minutes from Stowe, Sugarbush and Jay Peak. There is high speed reliable internet. The views are amazing and the space relaxing. The tub is extra deep for soaking. The bottom floor has radiant heat. The kitchen has granite countertops, a dishwasher, and stainless steel appliances and all amenities for cooking.
The two lower bedrooms each have 3 pocket doors which can be opened for more open space or closed and locked for privacy. The upstairs has a couch facing many windows for a relaxing space and view. There are two yoga mats available for use, along with an exercise ball. There are multiple board games and cards, as well as books to read. While there is a TV, since the home is located in a rural area, there is no cable available. However, you can access TV via Bluetooth from your phone. There is an HDMI cable and an adapter for Apple devices in the box under the TV. I also have slippers available for guests to use since there are no shoes allowed in the home.
The home is located on top of the hill, so the views are spectacular. Our neighbors are friendly. Most of the properties are large, so there is privacy. There is a house that shares the same driveway. The home is about 1 mile on a very well maintained dirt road that is a school bus route. The driveway is flat and was just redone.

Situated on a hill top, this house was inspired by the round barn from the original owner's childhood. Excellent views, lots of windows and sun. Enjoy a walk around the gardens or the adjoining woods. Private, peaceful and quiet yet not far from all that is happening in Vermont's capital city and the Northeast Kingdom. Sit on the deck to enjoy birds singing or stars twinkling.
Beautiful view from a bank of windows facing southeasterly both upstairs and downstairs. Bright and sunny open spaces. You can barbecue on the deck that is right off the kitchen. Upstairs bedroom has a double, adjustable TempurPedic , downstairs space has 2 twin beds. Contact us if you need to sleep more than 4. We've listed as a 2 bedroom because the downstairs is set up to functions as a bedroom, it has it's own bathroom.

A huge secluded Vermont getaway on a large, semi-private pond offers an ideal spot for getting away from it all or exploring the hiking, biking and breweries of the Northeast Kingdom. The house is at the end of a long (0.4-mile) driveway, and all the rooms open up on to Keiser Pond, a 70-acre body of water with only three houses on it. Enjoy the call of the loons on a canoe, or the stillness of winter in front of the fire!
Enter from the driveway through the mudroom and into a cathedral height great room. The space includes and open kitchen, dining room and living room, clustered around a huge chimney with two fireplaces. The upper level also includes a gorgeous master suite with a full bathroom and walk-in closet. All the rooms open onto a covered porch with views of the pond. Downstairs, there is a common area with a small kitchenette. There are also four more bedrooms, each with french doors opening onto the patio and looking out onto the pond. The mini-master bedroom has an ensuite full bathroom, and there is a second full bath across the hall. For babies and toddlers, we have a pack-and-play, and a full-sized crib that can be set up at your request. There is also a queen-sized airmattress and another twin mattress that can be used for extra sleeping space.
Less than a mile away is Red Barn Brewing, one of the tiniest (and most delicious) Vermont breweries off the beaten path. Walk over and enjoy a glass of Misty Hopped or Little Devil, or hop in the car for half an hour and head over to Hill Farmstead. In the summer, you can swim, fish, canoe or kayak on the pond. Enjoy a number of near-by hikes or head over to the Kingdom Trails for some of the country's best mountain biking. The fall brings spectacular foliage and weekly festivals in all the nearby towns. In the winter, you can skate or cross-country ski on the frozen pond. We are also near the VAST network and a short drive from the Crafstbury Outdoor Center. The Kingdom Trails are open for fat biking or snow-shoeing.

Spacious cottage has bedroom and sunny loft space with daybed and trundle. Porch overlooks fields, farm and an Audubon sanctuary. Near Harvey's Lake, plenty of mountain/road bike routes, minutes to alpine and Nordic skiing, lots of great hikes.
The cottage is spacious and sunny -- perfect for a couple or family. There are corners that invite you to relax with a book, play board games, or just enjoy the view. The porch overlooks a quiet meadow, Audubon bird sanctuary and farm.
We're a short bike-ride to the public beach at Harvey's Lake (great swimming, canoeing, kayaking, paddle-boarding).

Forty-nine windows across three floors enable spectacular views of Peacham Pond. The open concept main floor includes a large living area with a wood burning fireplace and smart tv. Enjoy a gourmet meal prepared in our fully-equipped kitchen. Prefer to grill and enjoy a meal outdoors? Idyllic Lake Home on Peacham Pond has everything you need for a relaxing al fresco dinner including a gas grill, full patio dining set, and an outdoor fireplace.
Idyllic Lake Home on Peacham Pond is located on a 360-acre lake with 80 properties spread across 3 miles of shoreline. Our neighbors are a mix of seasonal and full-time residents. The forest surrounding the lake is protected by the state or land trust. There is excellent hiking, walking, biking, and snowshoeing here. Peacham Pond is a motorized lake with a public waterski course, although there is never much traffic. The public boat launch is less than a quarter mile away. Peacham is a very clean lake, without invasive species or blue/green algae. There are two pairs of nesting loons that return each year, during the early summer you may be able to see a chick or two. The lake is stocked with brown trout and available to anglers from May-Oct, then again in mid-Jan to March. See the Vermont Department of Fish & Wildlife for regulations. Peacham is one of the most photographed towns in Vermont (think postcards). Yankee magazine once designated our town as the 'Best Village in New England'. Seasonal town events include the annual Peacham Acoustic Music Festival, Fall Foilage Celebration, Winter Carnival, even a traditional tractor parade for the 4th of July.
