Charleton Park is just a couple miles around on the East side of Thornapple Lake from Valentine Cabin. They offer free daily swimming area and boat launch access to everyone.
The Historic part of the park hosts activities year round for a small fee as well. The Halloween, Christmas, Easter, and Fathers Day car show are always popular!
There is an old time sawmill , and tractor shows frequently.
Overall it is a great family-friendly place to visit!

Hastings might be a small town, but it is full of life and activity!
There are typical chain restaurants along with several great local only places. One of our favorites is the Brewery right downtown.
Lots of small unique shops, and a movie theatre.
Some of the events hosted downtown are the Farmers Market and Community Concert Series with live music.
There are a couple of playgrounds in town for kids, and beautiful art sculptures on display as you walk around the streets.

It is a 409 acre lake, averaging 30 feet depth that supports leisure boating, water skiing, tubing, and fishing.
Well known for the Muskie, the lake also has Walleye, Pike, Bass, and Crappie among other Pan-fish.

Our Valentine Cottage is located on the North Side of Thornapple Lake. The cottage is on a quiet private road in a mix of houses, cottages, trailers, mobile homes, and campers. All the neighbors are friendly and welcoming! It really comes alive in the warmer months!
True Barry County atmosphere! Be prepared to see and be welcomed by people from every walk of life here.

Cottage is in Flood Zone
Occasionally in the Spring when the snow and ice are all melting and it starts raining this area can flood. The Cottage is protected, and is built elevated.
We always keep a close eye on water levels this time of year and if a risk of flood were to come up, we will notify guests if they have a stay booked during any risky windows of time. A full refund will be issued if a cancellation is required or requested due to condition of surroundings.
