River tubing is a treasured pastime in the Canyon Lake area. And you can’t get a better view of the winding banks of the Guadalupe River than from down below. There’s are many “toob” rental companies both at the intersection of 306 & 2673 and along River Road. You’ll want to book your toobs in advance as it gets pretty busy starting in April.

Visitors to Canyon Lake love swimming in its clear, blue water. Canyon Park has a swimming beach, a marina, a boat ramp, and restaurant. Other swimming locations can also be found at Jacob’s Creek Park, Potter’s Creek, Comal Park, Cranes Mill Park and Overlook Park just 10 minutes from the house. Local tip – the swimming areas are often rocky, so swim shoes are highly recommended!

Set behind the oldest dancehall in Texas, and next to the Guadalupe River this is a great spot in Gruene (pronounced ‘Green’) for lunch or dinner. Don’t come hungry though. The wait can be a bit long depending on the time of day, but it’s well worth it!
