One of the most quintessentially Savannah stores around, Starlandia offers “used” art supplies and found items to jump start any kind of artist’s creative processes. You never know exactly what you’ll find here and that’s part of the fun! The store is a key stop on our “First Friday Art March” and art classes and workshops are also available on a monthly basis.
Our favorite antique store in Savannah and one of the best put together for just about anywhere in the country (and trust us, we go to a LOT of antique stores), Picker Joe’s is well laid out, well thought out, and well put together; it also has an amazing variety of antiques and highly competitive prices. Add to that a charming staff and a ton of vintage aircraft memorabilia and you can’t go wrong!

Like Civvie’s but more curated and intimate, The Future on Foyrsth Park is our favorite vintage clothing and accessories store and just an all around cool place to see. Super neat decor and super friendly staff make shopping there a really pleasant experience. They also have some of the most eclectic clothes you’re ever likely to see! You’ll have to go twice, just so you can say you’ve gone “Back to the Future!”

A breathtaking avenue sheltered by live oaks and Spanish moss leads to the tabby ruins of Wormsloe, the colonial estate of Noble Jones (1702-1775), one of the first settlers of Savannah in 1733. While not much is left, Wormsloe's tabby ruin is the oldest standing structure in Savannah. The real reason to go is the beautiful row of live oaks and the quaint community around it!

Fort Pulaski is historically important for a variety of reasons, mostly as the last of the great forts to see battle in the Civil War, but it is also just a beautiful place to be. Located on Cockspur Island the fort still shows its battle scars proudly and is surrounded my miles of lush hiking trails.

Tucked away off a lonely road halfway between Savannah and Charleston, the Old Sheldon Church is one of the most hauntingly peaceful places in the Southeast. This beautiful old ruin is the remains of a church first built in 1757!

A strange little road-side attraction right off of US Highway 17, the self proclaimed “Smallest Church in America” is open to the public 24 hours a day and is worth a quick stop for photos. The church itself has an interesting story too, but I won't spoil it for you!

The Hostel in the Forest is a strange hippie holdout in the middle of redneck country, but a great place to spend the night. Run since the seventies, the hostel is famous for its tree houses and its beautiful forests. Sitting on 133 acres of wilderness, there is also a beautiful lake where guests are encouraged to swim (clothes optional), but watch out for the fishies! Book ahead of time as the hostel stays full and look for scheduled sweat lodges and meditation retreats too.

The Georgia coast’s oldest and tallest lighthouse, this light station is still fully functional as well as housing a museum and an 1899 military battery across the street. Private sunrise and sunset tours are also available and guarantee some great photos.

The Pin Point Heritage Museum, located in the old A.S. Varn & Son Oyster and Crab Factory, offers a chance to experience the Gullah/Geechee culture first hand. For nearly 100 years, the community of Pin Point was quietly isolated on the banks of the Moon River just south of Savannah, but now the museum offers a chance to explore its history.

Parks & Nature

Oatland Island is Savannah's own little zoo, but just like everything here, it's a little different. Sprawling across the island there are large enclosures holding a variety of native Georgia wildlife such at Bobcats and Bald Eagles, and Grey Wolves. There are also education programs at the large main house.

One of our favorite places to watch a sunset, The Savannah National Wildlife Refuge is a breathtakingly beautiful place just north of Savannah. While the Refuge is massive and includes parts of Georgia and South Carolina, there is also a four mile loop that can be driven by car. You'll see all sorts of wildlife including lots of alligators, great blue herons, and seasonal bird life. Spottings have also included bald eagles, bobcats, coyotes, gopher tortoises, and snakes!

About an hour down the coast off of I-95 is the sprawling Harris Neck Wildlife Refuge. Go there to see an abundance of Low Country wildlife but also marvel at the post apocalyptic scene of a Refuge on the site of an old WW2 air force base. Remains of the previous plantation remain as well.

Davis Produce is hard to miss on the side of Highway 80 right before the Tybee Causeway and it’s worth a stop. The best local produce and pickle selection around, they also have the best damn boiled peanuts in Savannah! No day on the water is complete without them.
