Alfama is also representative of Lisbon Fado. It can be heard and experienced (because it is an unforgettable experience) in numerous restaurants and taverns, but only at night. Alfama people are also celebrated for being friendly.
You'll get lost in Alfama's maze , but that's the charm of it! so don't worry and just enjoy it!
And you are never really "lost": the Castle is on the top, the river is all the way down and in the middle of the hill passes the famous tram 28! In between many wonderful viewpoints: Largo Portas do Sol or Igreja Santo Estevão for example

Informações sobre a cidade
If you have the time you should include Sintra in your itinerary, is really a must! And Cascais too can be nice. You can do both in a day: going with train to Sintra, station Rossio (early as there is a lot to see there), using the bus in Sintra to take you to the palace uphill and wherever you wsh to go more (the tickets to visit is worth booking first to avoid queues: https://bilheteira.parquesdesintra.pt/categoria/45/parques-e-monumentos# )
In the afternoon you can take a bus that takes you to Cascais (passing in the most western point of Europe, Cabo da Roca ) These buses run every half an hour, so maybe stop here the appreciate the cliffs and wild atlantic and then catch the next bus to Cascais.
In Cascais very nice to have dinner, and then coming back by train (runs until 1 am) to Cais do Sodré station in Lisbon.
There is a ticket "Train and Bus" that include all this transport and costs 16€ and you charge in the same card at the train station when leaving to Sintra.
Important:
- take an extra coat as usually the weather in Sintra (microclimate) is cooler then in Lsibon
- don't miss the famous pastries there: "Travesseiros" eat them hot, they are amazing!
or Queijadas - these you can bring home and eat it later

Cómo moverse
Taxis from airport not expensive
Taxi from airport: To come from the airport the easiest is to take a taxi. As the airport is inside the city, it just takes 15/20 minutes and costs maximum 15 euros(already including luggage charge of 1,60€ for the total nr of bags) . Bigger taxis are more expensive. IMPORTANT: To avoid being overcharged at the airport, pick up taxi not at Arrivals but at Departures. (After passing through customs turn right. Walk a bit and take the elevator up (DEPARTURES). At the main door of the airport, there are usually taxis.
Cómo moverse
Metro goes up to the airport (but change line)
Metro is very handy in Lisbon. In the airport there is the red line.
To come by metro to downtown needs to change line in São Sebastião station, for the blue line, direction Santa Apolonia.
For Alfama: exit Santa Apolonia
For Chiado : exit Baixa/Chiado and then Chiado
For downtown: exit Rossio, Baixa or Terreiro do Paço

Suggestion for last day (near airport)
On last day you can leave to visit the Parque das Nações/oriente area a modern neighborhood with some striking examples of contemporary architecture with the famous Oceanarium, the cable cars by the river that offer fantastic view, many restaurants, gardens, and the shopping center Vasco da Gama. This area is very close to the airport (only 3 metro stations or 5 minutes with a taxi) and you can leave luggage in the lockers in the metro station. Metro Red line - station Oriente.

In Chiado you can try Bairro do Avillez, Sea Me, Cafe Royal, Carmo, Mar ao Carmo, just to mention a few...Also Belcanto por Alma for more exquisite gourmet experiences and for simple portuguese food Sinal Vermelho.
Time out market is also a must (either in the ground floor with all restaurants and tables in the middle, or in the 1st floor restaurant Pap'Açorda.

In Lisbon, the city of the seven hills, there are so many viewtops and many Rooftop restaurants and/or bar are just fantastic! There are many but a few to be noted: Java, Park Bar, Topo Chiado, Topo Martim Moniz and Seen by Olivier.
