One lesser used hike is called Bear church rock. it is 30 min away. less traveled. You start at the Graves MIll Trail head.
you can just stay on this relatively flat trail that follows the beautiful Rapidan river, or take the Staunton River trail to the left and hike up to summit. There is a map in TBGR where we do keep trail maps. It follows one fly-fishing stream, then another and the last 0.5 mi to the summit is abit difficult (but I made it at 60 YO). no park fees. Beautiful at summit.
