Republic Square is located in the heart of the city (10 minutes walk from our apartment). On the territory there is the National Gallery, and from here you can go to the park of the 2800th anniversary of Yerevan and enjoy a pleasant walk. While on Republic Square, pay attention to the drinking fountain located to the left of the entrance to the National Gallery. Armenians call such fountains "pulpulak" or "tsaytakhbyur", you will find a lot of such fountains in the city and every time you see it, don’t miss your chance to enjoy the delicious Armenian water. "Pulpulak", located on the Republic Square, is distinguished by the fact that it keeps many secrets. This beautiful piece of art is called "7 Springs" and was built in the 1960s. The letters of the Armenian alphabet are located in the inner part of the fountains. When the sun peeks out from behind the clouds, you can see that the shadow from the tips falls on one of the letters. Each of them represents a specific hour. For example, if it’s on the first letter of the alphabet A (Ա), then it is noon. In the ornament, engraved on the edge of the fountains, lies the wish: "Drink to your health." From our apartment to the Republic Square, you can walk along one of the ancient and saturated streets of Yerevan, Hanrapetutyan (Republican) Street, where you can see an old building, from the balcony of which more than 100 years ago, in 1918, an Armenian revolutionary, political, military and statesman Aram Manukyan announced the independence of Armenia.

Finding the building is quite difficult, it is located deep in the backyards. But as soon as you enter the place, an old wooden building with two floors will open in front of you. Here you can see temporary exhibitions, leaf through an interesting collection of books on photography, as well as drink coffee and have a bite to eat in a cafe located right there.

Not so far from the city center is the GUM market. It is simply impossible to visit Armenia and not see the real Armenian market. The atmosphere in the market, as in the whole country, is hospitable: everyone will treat, talk and explain, give small gifts and add a kilo more. Here you will find various fruits and vegetables, herbs and cheese, dried fruits and spices, and much more. During the summer season, the colors at the market are just crazy. You can come here to take a walk and take a couple of beautiful photos, or make purchases and fall in love with the taste of the gifts of nature in Armenia. The market is located at M. Khorenatsi 35.
