If you are around on a weekday, be sure and stop by the Ferrara Pan building. Although they don't give tours, you can stop by their factory store and buy candy by. the pound at an unbelievable price. Lemonheads, Orangeheads, Gummy Bears, it is an absolute treat!

Recreation
We have a great park less than a mile away from the unit. The soccer field is booked a lot (but not all) of the time. But, there is usually. a tennis court available and there's a great playground for the kids as well as lots of green space just to play or relax.
In the summer, they have a world-class pool/water-park area. Near the end of summer they are home to the National no-gloves softball championship, one of the most unique sporting events you'll ever see.

Parking and Rideshares
We highly recommend either SpotHero for parking, or rideshares like Uber and Lyft.
SpotHero will help you find the most affordable parking close to your destination. Be sure and use the app and pay in advance, the price difference between the app and if you pay at the parking garage can be dramatic.
Uber and Lyft can get you downtown for around $20-30 one-way, depending upon time of day (this, as of 2022).
We'll be frank and say that we don't really recommend the Chicago CTA trains at this time for comfort and safety reasons.

What's frustrating about Chicago? Parking!
If you are heading to busier areas, especially downtown near the Magnificent Mile, or River North, parking can be a beast. It can also be EXPENSIVE! If you aren't careful, you can easily spend over $40.00 on parking.
We highly recommend SpotHero. It finds parking spots near where you are going and lets you pay in advance.
