Posh fish and chips and great wine from this place - a bit on the pricey side but worth it if you're into seafood.

Super spot for brunch at the weekends or coffee and a cake midweek. Gets busy and they don't take reservations so you might be waiting a while to get in.

Craft beers, live traditional music at the weekends, pub quizzes midweek, and excellent food - try the scotch eggs, both the meaty and the vegetarian ones are unreal! You need to book a table if you're eating, for drinking you just turn up and get on it.

The best spot in Stoneybatter for a pint - this is proper local pub that gets really lively at the weekend but is lovely and peaceful midweek. Occasional live music and seats in front of roaring fires in the winter. They only take cash so hit the ATM outside before calling in.

Great Victorian pub with a lovely steakhouse bistro upstairs from it. Bar food in the pub is great and the bistro upstairs is a bit fancier if that's what you're in the mood for. The bar serves fresh oysters at the weekends, fresh off the boats from Howth, and the Guinness is always lovely. Very busy all week round.

Cool spot for a drink on the walk home from town or a mad night out. It's small and smelly and it gets packed the closer to midnight you get but great craic and good tunes to be had.

Parks & Nature

The biggest city park in Europe, you can see the Irish President's house (which is modelled on the White House and does free tours every Saturday morning), the American ambassador's residence, Dublin Zoo and the iconic Wellington Monument. There's a herd of fallow deer who have no fear of humans and will let you wander right up to them. You're not supposed to feed them but they love carrots. Lovely spot for a picnic, a cycle (you can rent bikes at the main gate) or just a stroll.

Arts & Culture

Art gallery housed in an impressive old army barracks. The building is worth as much a look around as the collections it houses. Focusing on weaponry, furniture, silver, ceramics, glassware, Asian art and the Asgard, as well as folklife, costume artefacts and historic fashions (like presidential robes), it's a lovely peaceful place to spend a rainy afternoon.
