This is the most interesting restaurant with super good food. It’s a whole experience. Sometimes the service is slow, so plan accordingly. My favorite thing is the Reuben sandwich on gluten free rice pilaf bread. Everything is super yummy!

Sightseeing
This is my favorite beach! This is a place where there is something for everyone. There are sand volleyball courts, surf and swim areas, park play structure, fire pits and easy access to drop the kids and stuff off while you park. There is lots of free parking on the neighborhood streets.

The Safari Park is really unique. It’s a beautiful walk with animals in more of a natural habitat. The tram that is included with your ticket takes you out exploring the wild and you really get a feeling of what it would be like in the wild. It can be a little hot in the summer, but there are some splash pads. Bring water, hats and sunblock. The weather is usually perfect for visiting November through June. It’s less than a 30 minute drive!

Parque Safari del Zoológico de San Diego
15500 San Pasqual Valley RdThe Safari Park is really unique. It’s a beautiful walk with animals in more of a natural habitat. The tram that is included with your ticket takes you out exploring the wild and you really get a feeling of what it would be like in the wild. It can be a little hot in the summer, but there are some splash pads. Bring water, hats and sunblock. The weather is usually perfect for visiting November through June. It’s less than a 30 minute drive!
This is the best place to snorkel in San Diego. I have seen many Garibaldi fish. I have also seen many Sand sharks and Leopard sharks. They are harmless, but it still feels really brave and cool to swim with them. They also have awesome Kayak tours of the caves here. The waves are very gentle if you go to La Jolla Shores Beach so it’s a wonderful beach to bring your young children to. If you head over to the cove there are lots of seals and caves to explore. There’s a great place to start snorkeling and cut down your swim time. The public access is not well marked, but it is a small walkway just North of the Marine Room restaurant (which I also highly recommend eating at if you are not on a budget).

This theater is just around the corner from our home. It’s outdoors and shows plays all summer. The quality is like Broadway. You will have a magical evening that you will never forget! This is my favorite theater in all of San Diego!

My kids favorites are driving their own cars at Driving School and the Dragon Ride!

Flip flops and swimsuits
Make sure you bring a swim-suit and flip flops. I always bring a sweatshirt to the beach, even on a warm day. Sometimes the evenings cool off quickly, even in the summer. If not, I use it for a pillow while relaxing in the sun.
