Foods and Dranks

Excellent vegan food (including daily dessert specials), great cocktails, a solid beer draft beer selection, really nice outdoor patio in front and back. My go-to for late night food that won't make me feel terrible in the morning.

My favorite restaurant in Portland, hands down. Texas BBQ meets thai curry + funky cocktails, loud music, thai fried chicken...I could go on and on gushing about this place. Be prepared to wait an hour or more for a table, but it's worth it. Walk down to Either/Or for a cocktail while you wait.

More under-the-radar than its famous Peruvian counterpart, Andina, Casa Zoraya is equally-delicious, at a lower price point, and in a lovely neighborhood space to boot!

If the weather is nice and you can't decide what you want to eat or drink, go here. There are multiple great restaurants, at least one bar, a coffeeshop, and who knows what else, all surrounding a communal seating area.

World-class brewery right down the street. Food is great, and they usually have sports on the TVs if you're into that.

Quaint neighborhood spot with excellent food and drinks. I highly recommend their weekend brunch. Their cinnamon roll might be the best I've ever had.

Great, small cocktail bar with really creative and well-executed drinks. Music is always good (and usually loud, FYI). Food is fantastic.

One of my favorite neighborhood bars. Everything on the menu, food and drinks, is good. They also have trivia, bingo, and various other events throughout the week.

Live Music

One of my favorite music venues in town. It's small and intimate, with fantastic sound and a booking team that gets a lot of really great bands. It's connected to Bar Bar, which is a great place to grab drinks beforehand, and it's close to a billion other bars and restaurants on Mississippi Ave.

One of the oldest music venues in town, this place has live music almost every night. Expect mostly local bands, probably some bluegrass or Grateful Dead covers, impromptu jam sessions, maybe an open mic night, cheap or free entry, and strong drinks.

New country music bar with live music (or two-stepping, or line dancing) every night of the week. Welcoming to all. Parking isn't great to consider taking a Lyft.

Other stuff

My favorite place in the entire city. 5,200 acres of forest with 80 miles of trails, right next to downtown Portland. Send me a message if you want recommendations for trailheads, hikes, runs, bike rides, etc.

Sightseeing

Probably the best Japanese garden that isn't in Japan. Stunningly beautiful and authentic (or so I'm told). Nice tea shop on site as well.
