Kayaking is fun in its self. Now add the expansive natural ecosystem that Marjory Stonemason Douglas coined "the river of grass". Or choose to walk, ride bike or ride an airboat. Either of these set you up to find out why Florida is more than its beaches. Everglades National Park will get you up close and personal with the diverse flora and fauna and wild life animals, found within the park’s nine different ecosystems. Unlike most National Parks, Everglades National Park has three entrances in 3 different cities. Each provide a unique take on the animals and plants that thrive there. For either experience, stop at CVS to purchase insect repellent, sunscreen, water bottles and hats.

Shark Valley has guided tram tours, bicycle rentals and snacks available. The Observation Tower is a MUST SEE and can be accessed following the paved, bicycle/tram road.
Restrooms (accessible) and a water fountain with a water bottle refill station at the 7-mile mark beside the tower.

The Flamingo Visitor Center offers educational displays, informational brochures, and backcountry permits. Campground facilities, a public boat ramp, a marina store, and other hiking and canoeing trails are located near the visitor center.
A fun filled day at the Zoo? Who knew? Miami Zoo is the perfect place to take a stroll and get lost in places where the animals roam freely (kinda) and you have so much to do and see that 4hrs isn't enough time to dedicate to it. Trust me, if you long for a wild experience, Zoo Miami is where you'll find it! (PS. The Amazon experience is my favorite section of the Zoo. Check it out and let us know what you think!)

First, the Fla. Keys are comprised of 5 groups of islands. The first one (closest to the main land) is Key Largo. Then you'll see Islamorada, Marathon (my favorite for the beaches), The Lower Keys and Key West (the southern most point of the USA). Each one has many amazing things worth the time to visit.
If you are interested in visiting Key West, I recommend you go there first. It is a 4hr drive south (worth it. We do this drive every 2 months or so because it is relaxing and worth the tropical feeling). There are a few must haves while there....
1. Visit Ernest Hemingway’s House
2. The southernmost buoy is the second such landmark in Key West (taking a picture with it is a must do)
3. The Key West Butterfly and Nature Conservatory
4. Walk down Duval Street and see the street vendors of Mallory Square (you can see an amazing sunset from here)
Next- Located between Marathon and Key West (if driving, you'll pass right through it), Big Pine Key is home to Key deer and the National Key Deer Refuge. (You will see these deer walking around along the streets also.) Also on Big Pine Key is Blue Water Hole. This freshwater pond is located in a former quarry that attracts turtles and alligators.

Take your phone or camera fully charged, to have all the Collins Avenue, Española Way, Lincoln Rd pictures, you could possibly think of.

You wouldn’t want to carry big, bulky, beach items to this beach. It is recommended you carry a beach bag with essentials so you may freely roam the various boutiques, shops, restaurants, bars, and clubs.)
