This is our local pub - you can walk there through the back fields (and there's a shorter walk back along the side of the road although there's no pavement). Great for a pint in the bar, or traditional pub food and roast dinners on offer in the restaurant.

Great Thai food served all day. The building looks ugly from the front but there's a pretty garden at the back with traditional Thai seating. Always very busy at the weekends with locals.

Do not go here hungry! They bake fresh breads and cakes on site and the shop is full of goodies to tempt you plus a new deli and fine foods area. There's also a coffee shop that serves breakfast and other snacks all day.

This is a lovely organic farmshop with a restaurant serving delicious home grown food. In the farmshop they stock lovely condiments, fresh organic vegetables, meats and cheeses. Next to the main barn there's a fine wine shop and a beauty salon. And it's worth taking a walk out he back through their farm and countryside - they have walking maps.
In the Summer the restaurant has a great terrace - good spot for a nice lunch and a walk.

Epping RoadThis is a lovely organic farmshop with a restaurant serving delicious home grown food. In the farmshop they stock lovely condiments, fresh organic vegetables, meats and cheeses. Next to the main barn there's a fine wine shop and a beauty salon. And it's worth taking a walk out he back through their farm and countryside - they have walking maps.
In the Summer the restaurant has a great terrace - good spot for a nice lunch and a walk.
This is fine dining at it's best. The set menus is expensive but you feast on some amazing food that would match some top London restaurants. Gets great reviews. It's in the same grounds as the Forest Gate Pub, which couldn't be more different (see other listing). Worth a trip for a special occasion.

It's in the same grounds as the Forest Gate Pub, which couldn't be more different (see other listing). Worth a trip for a special occasion.
Part of the Wildwood chain, it's a nice restaurant serving pasta, pizza and grills etc. Always busy although often just full of families until a little later in the evening.

This is a great cafe right on the airfield. You can see the air ambulance take off and land and other light aircraft doing their business. A must for any aircraft enthusiasts. They serve good coffee shop fare (sandwiches, salads, baked potatoes etc)

The Forest Gate is a great local Freehold pub - the landlord runs it like a good old fashioned pub. He frowns on mobile phone use but serves great ales and hearty bar snacks and food. It's a great spot to park up and then go for a walk in Epping Forest 100m away.
Popular with walkers and dog owners.

Cinema in Harlow - convenient for parking. The Cineworld at the Harvey Centre in Harlow is more modern and a bit closer though but I can't get it on this listing yet as it only just opened..

The Olympic Park has a fantastic swimming pool, the velodrome and other legacy bits from the games. Easy to reach on the Central line (25 mins to Stratford). Check their website for details.

Big horrible ugly Tesco - but plenty of parking and sells most things you'd need. If you want nice foodie and wine bits, better to try M&S on the High Street or go to Ashlyns Farm shop.

Added this because it's such a fabulous old fashioned menswear shop. Sells shirts, jackets, coats, hats, gloves, scarves, brollies etc. Also has a hire section if you need black tie or morning suit. The staff are old school and exceedingly polite and helpful.

Westfield shopping centre. Great, if you like shopping centres! Has all the main shops, places to eat, bowling alley, cinema etc. Very easy to get to - 25 mins from Epping on the Central Line. It's next to the Olympic Park which has some amazing places to see and things to do.

This is a great place to drive and start a walk in the forest. The visitor centre has lots of interesting local and nature information. There's a pub at the top of High Beech too so if you want to grab a bite after you're walk, it's easy.

Everything Else
I've put this on the map as a lot of our guests attend weddings at Gaynes Park. It's approx 10-15 mins from here and easy to get taxi's to and from (see Lawlors taxi service)
