The Sunsphere was constructed for the 1982 World's Fair and during that time, it served as the symbol of the Fair. It was also home to a full-service restaurant and the Observation Deck.

The Sunsphere, located in World’s Fair Park in downtown Knoxville, Tennessee, is a 266 ft high hexagonal steel truss structure, topped with a 75 ft gold-colored glass sphere that served as the symbol of the 1982 World's Fair. A great place to see Knoxville from a different perspective.

No, there are no wigs inside. Yes, its free and Yes, it has the best views in Knoxville. The elevator up, walking around and coming back down usually only takes 10-15 minutes. A nice pit stop between beers.

From 1982 World's Fair and featured on the Simpson's (Bart knocks it over). Go up and view all of Knoxville.
