One of my favorite places in Costa Rica. Rio Celeste is where two rivers join and the water becomes bright blue. Truly stunning!

Many feel Rio Celeste at Tenorio Volcano National Park is really special. After visiting it, a guest wrote to us “words cannot describe how amazing that place was”. She and her family did this as a day trip, but with a 2+ hour drive each way and a 3.7 mile hike once you’re there, this makes for a long day. There are stairs and the hike back up from the waterfall could be hard for small children and the mobility challenged. During high season it can get crowded, so a mid-week visit is a better bet. Or, you could take a few days and work this into a trip to visit Caño Negro, Arenal/Fortuna, Miravalles or the Cloud Forest -- all of which I can highly recommend.
