This museum has fun modern art that kids love to look at. It's connected to the nation portrait gallery. There is a great atriumm where you can grab lunch or bring a picnic.

This is one of my favorite Smithsonian museums, I love art, it has the presidential portraits. Inside tip, don't wait in line to see Pres. Obama unless you want a photo with his portrait, you can easily walk by and take it in for a few minutes.

Keep in mind that there isn't just ONE Smithsonian museum. Say that you are looking for the Smithsonian and a local will know you are a tourist. There are actually 19 Smithsonian museums and the National Zoo. The best part is that they are all free!
