Beautiful small chapel next to the ruins of the castle of Egmond. It was one of the largest castles in Holland but it was set to fire and destroyed in 1573 during and after the siege of Alkmaar by the duke of Alva from Spain. After the siege Alkmaar were afraid the Spanish would settle in the castle and remain a threat to the city. Nowadays the ruins are - by own experience - a great spot for a picknick!
