Black Chasm Cavern has fascinating, in-depth tours, featuring rare rock formations known as helictites and an underground lake. It's a great escape from the heat. You can also pan for gold and gems and hike the miner's trail!

Black Chasm Cavern likely known by the local Miwok people long before the gold rush, the first documented exploration occurred in 1854. Over 100 years after its discovery was recognized by the federal government for the abundance of the unusual and rare speleothems called “helictites” that grow throughout the cavern and declared a National Natural Landmark in 1976. Today guests can explore the cavern via these platforms and view the dazzling array of crystals throughout the cave guided by an experienced and knowledgeable cavern naturalist. In addition, guests may be able to visit the Minors Trail located on the property.
