Beautifully preserved city with its medieval centre, cathedral and traces of its place in Roman history. As well as sightseeing, it is recommended for the numerous restaurants that can be found in its cobbled streets.

The Roman town of Périgueux and capital of the Dordogne department is a little over 1 hour from the cottage. With 39 historic buildings, one a stunning cathedral, it is a city of art and history with much to see and do here; explore the museums and admire the medieval buildings, wander through the ancient streets and gardens, and browse the Wednesday and Saturday morning markets. It is worth visiting the Tourist Information Office when you arrive to be sure you don't miss anything!

Ancient French city with superb maze of medieval streets at its centre, all adjacent to its romanesque cathedral. Good range of shops, bars and restaurants with many of them centred around beautiful paved squares. Indoor and outdoor market every Saturday and lots of special events on throughout the year. A good place to try out locally made food and wine.
