"There are coffee houses and there is Café Central." This is how the café describes it on its own website and sums it up perfectly. This café has been around since 1876, and greats like Freud and Trotsky have been regulars here. The design of the cafe is absolutely chic. If you want to eat or drink something here, you have to wait in the usually long line in front of the door. In the Café Central there is traditional Viennese cuisine. Starting with soups and Wiener Schnitzel to Kaiserschmarrn and Wiener Melange. The Kaiserschmarrn at Café Central is highly recommended!

The grandest of Vienna’s grand cafés, this storied spot was frequented by everyone from Trotsky to Freud in its heyday. Today it’s definitely a tourist attraction (you won’t find many locals braving the line outside), but it’s worth battling the crowds for its outstanding pastry section alone.
traditional Viennese cafe, with a live pianist playing most of the time. Very recommended, but you have to go there at the right time because sometimes there is a long queue
