People flock to the Philadelphia Museum of Art particularly to snap a picture with the Rocky statue- originally created for a scene in Rocky III and now a real-life monument to a hero who endures as a favorite fictional son of the City of Brotherly Love. Just as famous as the statue are the steps leading to the east entrance of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, aka “The Rocky Steps.”

Philadelphia Museum of Art It is one of the largest art galleries in the United States, located at the west end of Benjamin Franklin Park Avenue in Philadelphia. The museum was established in 1876 to coincide with the first World's Fair in the United States held in the same year, and it is of great significance to commemorate the centennial of the United States. The original purpose of the museum was based on the South Kensington Museum (now the Victoria and Albert Museum) in London, England. It officially opened to the public on May 10, 1877. Construction of the current building began in 1919, when Mayor Thomas Smith laid the foundation stone for the building in a Masonic ceremony, and occupies a 10-acre (40,000-square-meter) site on a disused reservoir. The first part was completed in early 1928. Quasi-Greek Revival style, designed by Horace Zumbauer and Janzinger. The facade of the building is made of Minnesota Dolomite. Its pediment faces the avenue and is decorated with sculptures of Greek gods. There is also a griffin, which served as a museum symbol in the 1970s. The museum building is nicknamed the Parthenon on Benjamin Franklin's Park Avenue. The museum has a collection of more than 227,000 objects spanning more than 2,000 years.
