Palais de la Bourse (stock exchange 19th century) and Place des Victoires (17th century) are the result of the expansion of the city in the 17th century where the residences were inhabited by the nobility of the robe and of the sword or by bourgeois merchants
Napoleon commissioned this “Temple of Money” in 1808, adorned with 64 massive Corinthian columns. The building’s design is epic and it is possible to visit inside (tours in English and French).
The 2nd arrondissement is located in the city center, on the finger bank of the Seine. It is the smallest district in the city but still offers a lot to do. In addition to Les Halles shopping center, the Pompidou Center (and the Lodgis offices!) there are more unusual visits to make at low prices in the district.
