Schools of spinner dolphins are regularly spotted swimming just outside the coastline and in the wintertime, you can sometimes see great pilot whales in the distance. 40 minutes south of Kailua-Kona where few tourists venture, the grey-black sand beach is still considered a local secret and almost never crowded.
