Giulia is the nicest and warmest host. In the beginning we had some issues with the $30 cleaning fee, since it wasn’t listed as part of the total cost like most other Airbnb listings, but was in house rules in Italian that I didn’t understand, Giulia was so kind to offer me to cancel my booking. But I liked her place being right next to the amazing Roman Forum so I decided to stay. She also promptly updated the house rules on Airbnb by adding English version.
Giulia waited for us at her flat and offered many local tips. She left us welcoming gifts, — a bottle of wine and a Panettone cake. Upon hearing our really early morning flight she set her alarm clock preparing to driving us to the airport should we have trouble with taxi or the bus to airport were unreliable. She has a big car that can easily accommodate us and our luggage. Fortunately the old myth of Italians always being late was wrong, we found all trains and buses and flights were very on time, even the night buses. But I would highly recommend just using Giulia for peace of mind since I find her very reliable and considerate.
Giulia’s place is very charming and everything was provided for, lots of tour books, power adapters, even a washer though we didn’t use. Bed is big and comfortable too. If only the Moka pot were a bit bigger, the current one can only brew one cup of espresso each time :)
Giulia also has a credit card machine that can easily collect the cleaning fee and tourist taxes instead of us having to pay cash, so I had my Euro cash to tip the tour guides. Her place is a 20 min walk from Roma Termini, 7 min to the Colosseum, and the stunning Roman Forum excavation site is right outside the front door. It is just amazing, so much history and buried glory.
WiFi service was interrupted while we were at the colosseum so it didn’t really impact us , but she immediately notified us and promptly dropped off a hot spot. My new iPhone was stolen at Pisa and could only use a Wifi only iPad afterwards, Giulia went out of her way to make sure we always had WiFi.
Rome is an extraordinary city, we love it so much and thanks Giulia for always being there looking out for us. We felt really being taken care of.
