Beach
Great White Sand Beach. Right across the street of the condo. Parking is tight so it makes it really convenient to be able to just walk there. I have beach equipment in the condo, so you won't need much. Beware though. This beach can have a strong current and shore break from time to time . There are lifeguards on duty during the day, so just inquire with them before swimming. They'll let you know if they think it's safe to go out .

Hapuna is probably the nicest on the island. It's a big white sand beach with bathrooms and showers. There are life guards there during the day. There's lots of sand to find a spot but be careful of the ocean. This beach can have a current and a strong beach break. I believe they charge about $5 to park there. If you're looking for a beach to lie out and swim at then this is a good beach .

This beach is about one mile from the condo. It has lifeguards during the day and its great for snorkeling, surfing or just laying in the sun. The parking is tight so go early. I believe they have a place there that you can rent surf boards if you're interested in renting boards or even getting lessons.

Kahaluu Bay
Ali‘i DriveThis beach is about one mile from the condo. It has lifeguards during the day and its great for snorkeling, surfing or just laying in the sun. The parking is tight so go early. I believe they have a place there that you can rent surf boards if you're interested in renting boards or even getting lessons.
Food scene
This restaurant is next to Magic Sand's beach right across street. It's a great restaurant with nice views and great ambiance . The food is great and they have a good selection of drinks available. However, if you're wanting to eat there for dinner or watch the sunset, then you need to make reservations. They get very busy there every night around that time. The food there is very good too.

The food is great and they have a good selection of drinks available. However, if you're wanting to eat there for dinner or watch the sunset, then you need to make reservations. They get very busy there every night around that time. The food there is very good too.

Umekes Fish Market Bar & Grill

This is a great place to visit. It is a national park that has a lot of the Hawaiian history and culture. it is also a great place to to snorkel, which is located right outside the park inn the same area. This is a popular place so parking is limited . It's very hot here so make sure you bring enough water to stay hydrated. Also bring your sun screen because it's very sunny with minimal shade. Try to use the sun screen that is reef safe. There's a lot of living coral there which is why the snorkeling is so good. There's not very much sand there so be careful getting in and out of the water. Also, keep an eye out on where you step coming in and out of the water because we have sea urchins there called wana that can poke you.

Parque Histórico Nacional Pu'uhonua O Hōnaunau
State Highway 160This is a great place to visit. It is a national park that has a lot of the Hawaiian history and culture. it is also a great place to to snorkel, which is located right outside the park inn the same area. This is a popular place so parking is limited . It's very hot here so make sure you bring enough water to stay hydrated. Also bring your sun screen because it's very sunny with minimal shade. Volcano National Park is worth the trip, but I would allow for a full day trip . It's about a 2 hour drive from the condo. Lots to do and see there. Hikes, visitor's center, cave, and of course the lava is still flowing. I would say plan on trying to be there until it gets dark because the lava is so bright at night and the stars really come out. It's pretty amazing at night.

Parque Nacional de los Volcanes de Hawái
Volcano National Park is worth the trip, but I would allow for a full day trip . It's about a 2 hour drive from the condo. Lots to do and see there. Hikes, visitor's center, cave, and of course the lava is still flowing. I would say plan on trying to be there until it gets dark because the lava is so bright at night and the stars really come out. It's pretty amazing at night.
Akaka Falls is an amazing waterfall and a must see if you wanna make the drive over. It's about 2 hours to get to from the condo and located in Honomu which is on the Hamakua coast. It's a beautiful drive over and you get to see a wide spectrum of the different sides of the Big Island. You will drive through a nostalgic old plantation town with a few stores that are kinda cool browsing through. They are mostly owned locally and good to support the local economy by buying something small whether it be food, coffee, baked goods, trinkets and souvenirs. Akaka Falls State park is located above the town a few miles up and they have parking and bathrooms there. It's a short paved walk/hike to the water fall. It's a circle walk so just keep walking and you will end up where you started. There's two different waterfalls to see, but the star of the show is Akaka. It looks like something out of Jurassic Park. Definitely worth seeing.

Rainbow Falls is also a great place to see. There's lots of parking and just steps away from the parking lot. If you're already in the area you might as well go to see it. However, if you are planning to see waterfalls then its probably better to go see Akaka Falls then come into Hilo to see Rainbow Falls.

Mirador del Valle de Pololú

There's a short hike down that probably takes about 20-30 minutes. I wouldn't recommend swimming in the ocean here or the river if its running quickly. The ocean has a very strong current and shore break and there are no lifeguards here.
Activity
I have tried this zipline adventure and had a great time. I actually live about a mile away from this place. The views are great and it's definitely a unique zipline experience . They are very professional and take every safety precaution. It's probably just under two hours from the condo. You can schedule a zipline activity then hit Akaka Falls. They are only about a mile from each other and then hit Rainbow Falls in hilo after of you have time.

Golf
This is one of my favorite golf courses. It's about 5 minutes from the condo and a beautiful well kept golf course. It has a handful of holes right on the ocean. It's pretty reasonable compared to all the other places to golf along the Kona Coast.
