Beaches

It's one of the world's top rated beaches. If you go there in the summer when it's crowded park in the neighborhood north of Encinitas Blvd that turns into B Street. Walk down to the beach using 4th or 5th Streets then stake your claim north of the river mouth where the crowds should be a little more thin.

A great local's spot with some caveats. Most importantly, it's a local's spot so be respectful. Also, check the tides before going. High tide makes this beach pretty much a no-go but anything around a medium to outgoing low tide will be fine. And finally, stay away from the cliffs. We've had tragedies due to partial collapse of the sandstone cliffs all along Encinitas' beaches and Stonesteps is no exception. Just give the cliffs a wide berth of and you should be fine. If you have any questions ask the lifeguard on duty at the bottom of the long staircase.
